Pinarello has announced its Dogma XC bikes, as ridden by world champions Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Tom Pidcock, will be made available to buy.

The brand is introducing the two XC bikes to the market – one full-suspension and the other a hardtail. The bikes were developed in collaboration with Ferrand-Prévot and Pidcock.

In a remarkably short span of three months, Pinarello designed a high-performance XC bike that Pidcock rode to victory at the first round of the XC World Cup in Nové Město in 2023, while Ferrand-Prévot took second in the women’s event.

Throughout a year of rigorous testing and competition with the Ineos riders, the Dogma XC has undergone only minor tweaks, aimed primarily at reducing weight – a key demand from the riders – and is now ready for the consumer market.

The Dogma XC shares the same frame design as the one used by the Ineos duo, albeit with some component changes.

Notably, the SR Suntour suspension on the pro bikes isn’t available for purchase. Pinarello has chosen what it considers the best components on the market: the new Fox 32 Step-Cast, which is said to be the lightest ever XC fork, a Fox Float SL shock, SRAM AXS drivetrain and Shimano brakes.

The bikes come with DT Swiss wheels and Maxxis tyres.

Pinarello emphasises that the Dogma XC isn’t your typical mass-market cross-country bike. It’s a bike crafted with the aim of helping elite riders win races. So those purchasing it should not expect a forgiving ride.

Asymmetrical design

Each bike features a patented asymmetrical rear-triangle design, where the left side is reinforced.

This design is said to enable the bike to counterbalance the increased forces exerted on the opposite side of the drivetrain.

The result is a claimed enhancement in energy transfer balance, leading to improved speed and traction.

Bottom bracket design

One of the most striking visuals of the Dogma is the bottom bracket area, with a cut-out triangular design.

Pinarello says this delivers extreme stiffness and allows for an oversized bearing and pivot point for the rear triangle on the full-suspension bike, while keeping the weight down.

Flexstays

Flexstays are gaining popularity on XC bikes, with models such as the Orbea Oiz and Cannondale Scalpel embracing this technology for weight savings.

The system is featured on the Dogma too, utilising flexible areas integrated into the carbon fibre rear triangle to deliver rear-wheel travel.

Pinarello adopted this design because it reduces pivot points, and is claimed to offer enhanced stiffness, lower weight and improved rear-wheel traction.

Pinarello’s split rear-triangle design incorporates two ‘semi-triangles’ around the main rotation point, eliminating the need for a bridge from the seatstays and chainstays.

This innovation is claimed to allow for a reduced chainstay length, improved handling and enhanced reactivity.

Pinarello also asserts that this design minimises mud build-up and accommodates a wider range of tyre sizes, up to 2.4in.

Adjustability

Pinarello has designed the bike to be able to adapt to different racetracks, with the ability to adjust the rear travel.

Riders have the option to configure the bike with a 100mm suspension fork and a 90mm shock, which come as standard on stock bikes, or opt for a 120mm fork paired with a 100mm shock.

Pinarello Dogma XC geometry

The bikes come in four sizes, ranging from S to XL, and the chainstay lengths remain consistent at 425mm across all sizes for the full-suspension model.

This shorter chainstay design is aimed at enhancing agility and providing superior traction during climbs.

The Dogma XC aligns with contemporary trends in cross-country bikes – the small and medium-sized frames have a 67.5-degree head angle on both the hardtail and full-suspension versions.

The head angle increases by 0.5 degrees for large and extra-large frames.

The Dogma XC hardtail has a shorter reach of 470mm rather than 480mm (size large) and a 10mm lower bottom bracket height, again on size large to take into account the lack of rear suspension.

The Pinarello Dogma line-up offers four models: two full-suspension bikes and two hardtail bikes. Each model has two builds: the premium Dogma XC and the second-tier XC variant.

The Dogma XC comes in two colours: Pure Red, reflecting Pinarello’s classic style, and Pure Gold (for full-suspension) or Pure White (for hardtail), decorated with rainbow stripes and gold accents that symbolise Ferrand-Prévot and Pidcock’s achievements in cross-country racing.

The lower-spec model is available in sleek black or what Pinarello dubs Pure Carbon.

A frame-only option is available for both the Dogma XC full-suspension (including the rear shock) and the Dogma XC hardtail. These are priced at £5,300 / $6,000 / €6,000 and £4,500 / $4,500 / €5,000 respectively.

There is not an option to customise builds and each model is sold as below.
