Distinctive colour option is back on US brand’s menu
Chris King is bringing back 3D Violet as one of its colour options for 2023 across its headsets, bottom brackets and hubs.
The Portland, Oregon based brand is well-known for its dizzying array of colours across its shiny parts catalogue.
“Over the years, we’ve produced a variety of eye-catching colours,” says Chris King design manager Jay Sycip. “Having introduced several matt finishes recently, we decided it was the perfect time to bring back a classic, highly requested colour, and 3D Violet was the standout choice.”
Those well versed in Chris King lore will know the brand has offered Violet options in the past, but the 3D variant offers a deeper hue and a greater link to the brand’s history.
Inspired by the BMX culture of the 1980s, 3D Violet was first introduced to Chris King’s burgeoning range in 1988, following the brand’s original silver and black headsets.
The 3D Violet follows the matt ‘Midnight’ colour the brand launched for its 2022 range.
More recently, Chris King announced its reintroduction of 6-bolt rotor Boost mountain bike hubs, which it ceased production of during the coronavirus pandemic to maximise output.
Chris King says the 3D Violet options will be available from June and are ready for pre-order.
