Fox enters the mountain bike shoe market catering for clipless and flat-pedal riders
The new Fox Union mountain bike shoe range includes two clipless models, with either Boa dials or laces, and a lace-up flat-pedal shoe.
This is a first for the brand, which is well-known for its mountain bike helmets and body protection.
Fox says its new mountain bike shoes have spent two years in the design and development stage, taking feedback from amateur riders as well as professionals such as Greg Minnaar and Nina Hoffmann.
All shoes will be available in black, grey, red and tan.
Fox Racing Union shoe range details
Fox Racing Union Flat
The Fox Racing Union Flat is – as the name suggests – designed for flat pedals. It has what Fox is calling an Ultratac sole. This features hex-shaped lugs, which Fox claims help with pedal engagement.
The Union Flat costs £129.99 / $149.95 / €149.99 and is made using a welded construction that should keep trail spray from seeping through to your socks. This differs from other designs that use stitching, which allows for water ingress.
Fox uses a one-piece upper in its design, which it says provides a consistent fit while also boosting durability.
The moulded toe cap and reinforced toe box add protection from rock strikes, according to Fox.

Fox Racing Union
The Union features the same Ultratac sole as the Union Flat, but features a cut-out for a cleat.
The mid-sole has a glass-reinforced nylon shank. This boosts stiffness, which Fox says makes for an efficient pedalling platform.
The welded construction means the shoe is bonded together, making it harder for the elements to get in because water cannot ingress through exposed stitches.
The Union is priced at £159.99 / €169.99 / $179.95 and uses a lace and strap combo to close.
A moulded cap and reinforced toe box are said to protect against rock strikes.

Fox Racing Union Boa
The Union Boa has the same sole as the Union, featuring an Ultratac outsole and glass-filled shank for pedalling efficiency.
Two Boa Li2 dials are used for closure, adding on-the-fly adjustability, with Fox claiming an improved power transfer to the pedals thanks to a more secure, formed fit.
A moulded toe cap and reinforced toe box are said to protect your feet from rock strikes when out on the trail.
The Union Boa is priced at £219.99 / €239.99 / $249.95.
