How to catch all of the road, track and mountain bike action at the 2023 cycling World Championships
The UCI World Championships will take place in and around Glasgow, Scotland, starting on Wednesday 2 August and running until Sunday 13 August 2023.
Rather than holding events for different cycling disciplines at different times and in different locations, the Glasgow events cover most cycling disciplines including BMX, mountain biking, track cycling and road cycling.
The gravel world championships won’t be held until 7 October though and, as last year, will take place in Italy’s Veneto region.
The UCI plans to hold comprehensive cross-discipline world championships every four years, with Glasgow being the first time it has organised its events this way.
Although billed as Glasgow, Scotland would be a more accurate description of the location, because events are spread as far afield as Fort William and the Tweed Valley for the MTB world championships.
The bulk of the action is on roads and in locations around Glasgow though, with a finishing circuit of the city centre for most road events, while track events will take place in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
We’ve split this guide up by cycling discipline to make it easier to zero in on the events that are of interest to you.
How to watch the 2023 Road World Championships – event schedule
The road World Championships, including time trial and paracycling events, start on Saturday 5 August and continue until the end of the World Championships on Sunday 13 August.
The road races all finish with a circuit in Glasgow city centre.
The junior men’s and women’s road races are on the circuit in Glasgow itself. The starts for the longer races are further afield, with the women’s elite and men’s under-23 races starting by Loch Lomond and the men’s elite race starting in Edinburgh.
All the time trial events will be held on a circuit in Stirling, with the exception of the mixed relay, which is on the Glasgow city centre circuit.
