Orbea has launched its new Laufey, with updated geometry, a revised frame and a 140mm fork.

The new hardtail will be available in three models, all sharing the same aluminium frame.

The Laufey starts at £1,599 / $1,899 / $1,499 for the H30 model, which features a RockShox Recon RL fork, while the top-of-the-range H-LTD model is priced at £2,699 / $2,999 / €2,499 and sees a Fox 34 Float Performance up-front.

Orbea says the bikes are available to order now through its website.

The Laufey frame now has a more aggressive-looking sloping top tube that helps create the illusion of a straight line from the headset to the rear axle.

Alongside this, the front triangle features Orbea’s Steep’n’Deep seat tube, which is said to enable you to slam the saddle completely out of the way for descents and welcome long-travel dropper posts.

The new frame also features the brand’s LOCKR internal storage seen on the new Orbea Occam LT, which gives you access to the down tube to store tools and accessories.

Like the previous Laufey, the new bike continues to use a 140mm fork on the front and has room for 2.6in tyres for added bump absorption.

Orbea has given the Laufey internal cable routing to minimise rubbing and rattling, and there’s an ISCG01 mount on the bottom bracket, meaning you can add a chain guide.

Ready to rock geometry

Orbea offers the Laufey in four sizes: S, M, L and XL.

The Laufey has been given a ‘Ready to Rock’ geometry, which Orbea says means the bike will cope with anything you can throw at it.

With a head angle of 64.5 degrees, the new bike is one degree slacker than the previous Laufey.

The seat tube angles have steepened from 75 degrees to 77 degrees, while chainstay lengths increase from 435mm to 440mm.

Reach measurements are up 2mm to 475mm on a size-large frame, which should make the bike feel more stable.
