POC has released two new road helmets, the Omne Lite and Omne Ultra.

Based on its Omne Air, the Omne Lite and Omne Ultra are aimed at performance and adventure cyclists, respectively.

The helmets will be available from March.

Aimed at cyclists who want to shave weight, the POC Omne Lite is a slimmed-down version of the existing Omne Air.

The EN-certified helmet features an EPS liner and a PC shell, and weighs in at a claimed 260g in size large. That’s 82g lighter than the Omne Air in the same size.

POC says it has achieved this reduction in weight by increasing the number of exhaust vents at the rear of the road bike helmet, which should help to keep things cool, especially during warmer days in the saddle.

The new POC Omne Lite still features a 360-degree adjustment system like the Omne Air. However, it forgoes rotational impact protection such as MIPS or POC’s own SPIN system.

The Omne Lite will be available in three sizes (small, medium and large) and will cost £170 / $190 / €190.

The POC Omne Ultra sports some eye-catching features designed “to provide enhanced personalisation and inspiration for those extended adventures on your bike”.

The most attention-grabbing feature of this new helmet is the multiple attachment points on the sides and rear.

POC claims the Velcro and elastic attachment points enable riders to store items such as an ID card while riding.

The Omne Ultra also features a Recco reflector, a small battery-free electronic responder to help search and rescue teams locate you in the event of an accident.

Recco reflectors are typically found in mountaineering equipment, but POC has used them before in its Otocon full-face helmet and Suplest used them in its Trail Series shoes.

The list of safety features continues with the inclusion of the MIPS Integra rotational impact protection system.

The rest of the helmet looks similar to the Omne Air, featuring an EPS shell and PC liner, and a 360-degree adjustment system.

The Omne Ultra has a claimed weight of 390g in a size large.

The POC Omne Ultra will be available in three sizes (small, medium and large) and will cost £180 / $200 / €200.
