Rose has announced the release of the Bonero, a new hardtail mountain bike with a 140mm fork and a progressive geometry said to enable riders to “really let it rip downhill”.

Described as a bike for everyone, the Bonero is available from Rose in six frame sizes. The XS and S frames are equipped with 27.5in wheels and all other sizes come with 28in wheels.

Alongside six sizes, the Bonero comes in three different builds, with either Shimano or SRAM 1×12 drivetrains and RockShox forks.

Pricing starts at €1,499 and goes up to €2,199. The bike is not currently available in the UK after Rose stopped shipping to Britain citing Brexit as the reason why.

Versatile geometry

Rose says the Bonero is a versatile bike suitable for beginners, riders returning to mountain biking and advanced riders.

“We didn’t want the Bonero to be an either-or bike. We wanted to reduce it to the essentials to make it affordable and offer beginners a perfect entry into the world of mountain biking,” says Anatol Sostmann, Rose’s director of product and brand.

Behind this claim lies a geometry Rose describes as “modern”, with a 65-degree head tube angle and a 76-degree seat tube angle.

Rose says this helps create a bike that can feel like a freeride bike while being as robust as a trail bike.

Alongside speccing the different-size frames with different wheel diameters, Rose says the top tube and chainstay lengths of the frames are adapted for each size ensuring “the frame always maintains its perfectly balanced, progressive geometry”.

Frame details and a dropper post

The Bonero has several features and details, despite Rose wanting to reduce the bike to the essentials, improving versatility.

Rose says the bike has mounts for a bottle or tool strap and mudguards.

Cables and tubes from the hydraulic brakes run internally and exit the frame underneath the bottom bracket.

The bike is fitted with integrated frame protectors on the chainstays and down tube, to protect the bike from any chain slap or debris.

Rose has also fitted the bike with SRAM’s universal derailleur hanger to ensure spares are easily accessible, according to the brand.

All three models in the Bonero collection come fitted with an e*thirteen Vario Infinite dropper post. The travel of the dropper post varies depending on frame size, from 90-120mm on the XS to 180-210mm on the XL.
