Ortlieb has announced an updated Seat-Pack QR bag, with bikepacking specifically in mind.

Produced in Germany and weighing in at a claimed 625g, Ortlieb says the bag has a ‘zero-sway design’ and a fully waterproof construction.

Based loosely on the brand’s saddlebags, the bag uses a hook-and-loop fastener for attaching around the seatpost. The bag is said to be dropper-post compatible with an adaptor clamp that takes up 4.3cm of seatpost real estate (the bag will normally take up 3cm).

The pack has a claimed 13-litre capacity. Ortlieb says you can store kit such as a cycling gilet on the outside, which features an elastic cord fastener.

There is also daisy-chain webbing on the back of the pack to mount a rear light or additional equipment.

The Seat-Pack QR uses an all-new Seat-Lock fastening system, which the brand says makes it quicker to mount and remove.

There’s a valve for deflating excess air from the bag and compression straps to roll everything tightly.

3M Scotchlite reflectors are utilised on the top of the bag for additional safety. A protective plate on the underside of the bag is said to prevent damage if the tyre comes into contact with it.

The pack is designed to resist tyre abrasion.

Ortlieb says the pack is not suitable for mounting on carbon saddle rails or seatposts.

The bag will sit alongside the existing 11-litre and 16.5-litre Seat-Pack models.

The Seat-Pack QR retails for £155 / €159.99 / $190 and is available now. Australian pricing and availability are to be confirmed.
