If one word were to summarise why so many of us cycle, it would be ‘adventure’.

From last-minute after-work spins around local lanes to cross-continent epics that take months of planning, nothing is quite as motivating as discovering what new places, experiences and tales are around the corner.

With that in mind, we’re celebrating Adventure Week here on BikeRadar.

Over the next seven days, we’ll be sharing stories of cycling through Sri Lankan mountains and lessons learned bikepacking in Cuba.

We’ll also provide practical tips on planning and prepping for your next adventure and share our favourite bikepacking routes.

While cycling can feel like a man’s world, we’ll be looking at why women are beating men in ultra-distance events and speaking to Fastest Known Times founder Molly Weaver.

Elsewhere, deputy editor Jack Luke will explain why he commissioned a cantilever-brake, randonneuring bike in – can you believe it? – 2024 and Katherine Moore will explain why searching for the perfect gravel tyre is a fool’s errand.

We’ll also be dishing up our usual course of reviews, with an adventure twist. We’ll be sharing gravel suspension fork reviews and rating budget gravel bikes.

For those who want to get off the beaten track, you’ll be able to read about how you can tweak your mountain bike for bikepacking.

As with any of the best adventures, there will likely be extra surprises along the way, so we hope you’ll join us for the ride.
