Unlock Zwift Tartan cycling kit by riding at the 2023 Cycling eSports World Championship venue
Zwift’s new Scotland virtual world takes in craggy climbs, loch loops and city centre circuits.
Based on Glasgow and the Scottish countryside, the five new courses measure a total of 58.8km.
Zwift says the new routes pass virtual castles, fens, lochs, beinns (Gaelic for mountains), sgurrs (rocky peaks) and Glaswegian cityscapes.
Scotland is the third Zwift world based on a 2023 UCI Road World Championships course.
Glasgow will host the 2023 edition, following Richmond and Yorkshire.
The launch also sees Zwift become the second indoor cycling app to have virtual Scottish roads. Wahoo X announced the Dunoon Crossover gravel route last year.
The Scotland world will initially be available only for Zwift racing and events, with the first chance being Stage 8 of the Tour de Zwift from 3-12 February.
Ride Scotland and Race Scotland will give Zwifters another opportunity to sample the new world from 6 February to 7 March. The February ZRacing series will also be contested on the Scottish courses. Taking part in either will unlock the Zwift Tartan cycling kit.
You’ll be able to take part in free rides and Zwift group rides in early March.
Zwift Scotland courses in detail
Rolling Highlands
- Profile: 14.1km, 105m climbing
The undulating circuit of a loch is packed with short, punchy climbs.
City and the Sgurr
- Profile: 8.6km, 161m climbing
Sgurr – meaning rocky peak in Gaelic – is Zwift’s newest climb. It can be tackled in both directions, ideal for working on your hill climbing.
Glasgow Crit Circuit
- Profile: 3km, 33m climbing
Zwift’s newest crit circuit showcases Glasgow’s iconic architecture. Short, sharp climbs and technical corners will make for demanding racing.
Loch Loop
- Profile: 8km, 71m climbing
The Loch Loop covers sections of the Rolling Highlands’ terrain apart from the tougher climbs. The relatively flat course is perfect for constant efforts such as time trials.
The Muckle Yin
- 25.1km, 279m climbing
The longest Scotland course incorporates nearly all of the virtual world’s routes. Starting from Glasgow city centre, Muckle Yin heads west to the coast before undulating to the loch and ascending the Sgurr.
