Brompton has served a stop ride notice on older models of the Brompton Electric bike.<\/p>\n

The voluntary recall was announced today and relates to the gap between the front mudguard and tyre.<\/p>\n

The bike builder says \u201cif an object of a certain size becomes trapped between the bike\u2019s mudguard stay and tyre, this can result in the mudguard getting caught on the tyre, and the bike\u2019s wheel rotation becoming inhibited or stopping suddenly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brompton confirmed that injuries have occurred from the fault, without elaborating on the nature or number.<\/p>\n

It adds: \u201cAlthough the risk of an accident occurring is very low, we have begun a programme to repair all affected bikes as part of an official recall.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recalled bikes will also have a battery catch upgrade.<\/span><\/figcaption> Brompton<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n

The launch of the Brompton Electric<\/a> in 2018 marked the folding-bike specialist\u2019s entry into the electric folding bike<\/a> market.<\/p>\n

The mudguard stay will be upgraded to boost clearance between the mudguard and tyre, according to the brand.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Brompton says it will tweak the bike\u2019s battery catch to reduce movement between the battery and bike.<\/p>\n

This will cut the likelihood of battery disconnections and make the electronics last longer, according to Brompton.<\/p>\n

The company has underlined that the newer Brompton C Line Electric model is unaffected.<\/p><\/body><\/html>\n
