The company behind Mini Cooper cars has announced a new range of electric steel commuter and touring bikes, which it claims offer unlimited range.<\/p>\n

Cooper Bikes has introduced men\u2019s and women\u2019s town bikes, a \u201cRandonneur\u201d and a singlespeed.<\/p>\n

All four models use the Zehus Bike Gen2 Heckmotor. The 40Nm motor integrates into the rear hub, along with the 173Wh battery.<\/p>\n

The bikes also harness KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) technology to recharge the battery in motion, creating \u201ca hybrid drive with range guarantee\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Racing Red singlespeed has a low-maintenance belt drive.<\/span><\/figcaption> Cooper Bikes<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n

Developed in the automotive industry, KERS technology recovers a vehicle\u2019s kinetic energy released during braking.<\/p>\n

None of the bikes come with a head unit display, but connect to a smartphone app via Bluetooth.<\/p>\n

The quartet of bikes range from \u00a32,099 \/ \u20ac2,399 to \u00a32,499 \/ \u20ac2,799.<\/p>\n

Cooper Bikes is the bicycle arm of Cooper Car Company, which designed the original Mini Cooper.<\/p>\n

Founded by John and Mike Cooper in 2009, Cooper Bikes expanded into electric bikes<\/a> in 2017 through a partnership with German brand TechniBike GmbH.<\/p>\n

The latest releases are the second generation of Cooper electric bikes.<\/p>\n

The singlespeed CS-IE has a Gates CDX Riemen belt-drive drivetrain with a Gates CDX 19t sprocket and Gates CDX 50t chainring.<\/p>\n

Cooper says the bike\u2019s Reynolds tubing makes it \u201ca real eye-catcher in the urban jungle\u201d.<\/p>\n

The brakes are Shimano BR-M315 hydraulic disc brakes<\/a>, while the Mach1 560 HighProfile 36H rims are shod with 35mm Kenda Kwick Trax K1053 tyres.<\/p>\n

The CS-IE comes in Racing Red or Tarmac and Sun, and costs \u00a32,099 \/ \u20ac2,399.<\/p>\n

Cooper says the CL-7E has a \u201csuper-light\u201d CroMo steel frame and \u201cexudes style and riding comfort in equal measure\u201d.<\/p>\n

The saddle is a rubber Brooks C17 and brakes are hydraulic Juin Tech Hybrid discs.<\/p>\n

The 7-speed has a MicroShift XLE rear derailleur and 11-24t cassette paired with a single 44t chainring for \u201ccommuting with ease\u201d.<\/p>\n

The CL-7E also has Mach1 560 HighProfile 36H wheels and 35mm Kenda Kwick Trax K1053 tyres.<\/p>\n

The rack is a SKS Infinity GT5, while the aluminium mudguards are colour-matched to the frame.<\/p>\n

The CL-7E is available in Blood and Ivory or Creme and Coffee colourways for \u00a32,199 \/ \u20ac2,499.<\/p>\n

According to Cooper, the lightweight CG-7E \u201caccelerates to a comfortable city speed in no time and glides quietly through the urban jungle\u201d.<\/p>\n

Spec and price are identical to the CL-7E, but paint options are Blue and White or Silver Grey.<\/p>\n

Classic Randonneur Cooper CR-7E<\/h3>\n

The Randonneur has drop handlebars and the same steel Cooper frame as the rest of the range.<\/p>\n

Gearing is identical to the Classic bikes in the way of a 7-speed 11-24t cassette and 44t single chainring.<\/p>\n

The Randonneur\u2019s brakes, wheels and tyres also match the other Classic bikes.<\/p>\n
