Wahoo has announced it has acquired RGT Cycling<\/a>, one of the leading virtual indoor cycling apps<\/a> and a key competitor to Zwift<\/a>, to add to its growing collection of training software.<\/p>\n

As part of the acquisition, RGT Cycling will be rebranded as Wahoo RGT and made available via a new subscription model named Wahoo X.<\/p>\n

A Wahoo X subscription will cost $14.99 per month or $129 per year, and will give users access to both Wahoo RGT and Wahoo SYSTM, the brand\u2019s existing online training platform.<\/p>\n

Whereas Zwift features a more gamified virtual indoor cycling experience, RGT Cycling set itself apart by offering a more realistic experience.<\/p>\n

Wahoo says \u201cWahoo RGT provides realistic drafting, cornering and braking, making it less like a video game and more like an immersive cycling simulator.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, instead of having made worlds that only occasionally mimicked real-world locations, Wahoo RGT carries over RGT Cycling\u2019s simulations of famous routes and climbs.<\/p>\n

There are also virtual group rides and races to join, as well as a library of structured workouts for those trying to improve their fitness.<\/p>\n

Subscribers can also upload GPX files to create custom virtual courses using the software\u2019s Magic Roads feature.<\/p>\n

As is usually the case, it\u2019s possible to get online with a more basic indoor cycling setup<\/a>, but you\u2019ll need a smart trainer<\/a> or indoor smart bike<\/a> to get the most out of software such as this.<\/p>\n
