HiRide has announced the Sterra Fork, a gravel fork with 20mm of hidden travel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The suspension is designed to integrate into a <\/span>gravel bike<\/span><\/a> in a similar fashion to the <\/span>BMC URS LT One<\/span><\/a>, whose suspension fork HiRide helped design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The suspension system consists of a coil spring and hydraulic damper. A dial control on top of the head tube adjusts travel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fork\u2019s maximum tyre clearance of 650b x 54mm or 700c x 45mm suits most of the <\/span>best gravel tyres<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

20mm of travel<\/h2>\n

The Sterra Fork\u2019s 20mm-travel is short compared to what <\/span>mountain bike suspension forks<\/span><\/a> offer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the idea of <\/span>gravel bike suspension<\/span><\/a> is to augment comfort when riding bumpy terrain without adding excess weight \u2013 a growing consideration amid the rise of gravel racing<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sterra Fork\u2019s carbon legs keep weight down to a claimed 1,300g depending on whether you decide to cut the steerer.<\/span><\/p>\n

HiRide says its 299.5mm length can be trimmed by up to 149.2mm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mounting points<\/h2>\n

There are three mounts on each fork leg for <\/span>bikepacking<\/span><\/a> bags and cages, but not <\/span>mudguards<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dynamo light<\/span><\/a> cables and <\/span>brake cables<\/span><\/a> can be internally routed through the fork.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sterra Fork takes a 12 x 100mm thru-axle<\/a> and flat-mount disc brakes with 160mm to 180mm rotors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

HiRide sells its products directly to bike brands, so there is no retail price available, but will we see this as an option specced on new bikes?<\/span><\/p><\/body><\/html>\n
