Bianchi will return to the WorldTour for 2023, with the Ark\u00e9a-Samsic set to ride the Oltre RC \u2013 but the Air Deflector wings have been removed in order to comply with UCI regulations.<\/p>\n

The new Bianchi Oltre RC<\/a> was unveiled in October, with the Air Deflector wings, said to channel airflow around the head tube, among the aero road bike\u2019s<\/a> headline features.<\/p>\n

However, as reported by Cyclingnews<\/a>, Bianchi removed the Air Deflector wings from the bike when presenting it to cycling\u2019s world governing body for approval for use in UCI-sanctioned events.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bianchi Oltre RC was presented and homologated without the so-called deflectors,\u201d read a UCI statement. \u201cTherefore the use of the mentioned parts will only be possible outside of UCI-sanctioned events.\u201d<\/p>\n

Article 1.2.034 in the UCI\u2019s technical regulations prohibits the use of \u201cprotective screens, fuselages, fairings or any other device that is added or blended into the structure, and that is destined or have the effect of reducing resistance to air penetration.<\/p>\n

Article 1.2.034 continues: \u201cAerodynamic assemblies and protuberances on the head tube or elsewhere are prohibited.\u201d<\/p>\n

A WorldTour return for Bianchi<\/h2>\n

Having dropped out of the WorldTour for 2022<\/a>, Bianchi\u2019s comeback with Ark\u00e9a-Samsic was confirmed today, with the Italian bike brand presenting the French-based team\u2019s machine for the forthcoming season.<\/p>\n

As well as the Oltre RC, the team will use Bianchi\u2019s lightweight Specialissima<\/a> \u201cfor stage racing and climbing\u201d, the Aquila for time trials and, for cyclocross riders, the Zolder Pro.<\/p>\n

Bianchi will also support the team\u2019s development and women\u2019s squads.<\/p>\n
