The Giro d\u2019Italia heads off from Fossacesia Marina, midway down Italy\u2019s eastern Adriatic coast, on Saturday 6 May 2023, arriving in Rome three weeks later, on Sunday 28 May.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s only just over 160km between the race\u2019s start and end points, but in the interim riders will have covered 3,489.2km, an average of 166.2km a day. They\u2019ll have taken in the best vistas Italy has to offer, as well as a short excursion over the Great St Bernard pass into Switzerland. They\u2019ll also have climbed over 51km vertically.<\/p>\n

The big clash is expected to be between Primo\u017e Rogli\u010d of Jumbo-Visma and Remco Evenepoel of Soudal\u2013QuickStep. The two last went head to head at the 2022 Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a; Rogli\u010d abandoned after a crash, Evenepoel finished as overall winner.<\/p>\n

Unlike the Tour de France, the Giro d\u2019Italia has limited free-to-air coverage in many countries, so it\u2019s quite difficult to keep up with the action unless you have a paid subscription.<\/p>\n

Eurosport will show live coverage of the Giro d\u2019Italia 2023 and, as usual, there\u2019s an on-demand option. Coverage times are to be confirmed.<\/p>\n

Eurosport is being merged with Discovery+, with a subscription costing \u00a36.99 per month or \u00a359.99 per year. It\u2019s available on a range of platforms including tablets, mobile, TV with Chromecast or AirPlay, Android TV or Apple TV.<\/p>\n

You can also watch the Giro d\u2019Italia on GCN+<\/a>, with coverage times to be confirmed, although expect to be able to view each stage in its entirety and ad-free. GCN+ usually includes both daily highlights and analysis in its Giro coverage, as well as the live action.<\/p>\n

A monthly subscription to GCN+ costs \u00a36.99, the same as Discovery+; an annual subscription to GCN+ costs \u00a339.99.<\/p>\n

How can I watch the Giro d\u2019Italia 2023 live in the US?<\/h2>\n

Much of the early-season racing was covered in the US by Flobikes, but the Giro d\u2019Italia will be shown on GCN+.<\/p>\n

That means, as for UK viewers, there will be full, ad-free coverage of each stage, with post-stage analysis and highlights available both live and on demand.<\/p>\n

An annual pass to GCN+<\/a> costs $49.99, while you can also sign up month by month for $8.99.<\/p>\n

How can I watch the Giro d\u2019Italia 2023 live in Australia?<\/h2>\n

SBS<\/a> will be covering the Giro d\u2019Italia live and on demand on SBS Viceland, with live coverage of Stage 1 starting at 9:35am AEST on Saturday 6 May. The full schedule is here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

GCN+ also has rights to the Giro d\u2019Italia in Australia and New Zealand, so you\u2019ll have the same coverage options as in the UK and US.<\/p>\n

How else can I watch the Giro d\u2019Italia 2023?<\/h2>\n

There\u2019s live terrestrial coverage in many European countries, with Italian chain Rai<\/a> showing the racing live on Rai 2 and Rai Sport (times TBA), and on Rai Play for on-demand access. If you have a VPN, you may be able to sign in to watch, complete with Italian commentary to get the full Giro experience.<\/p>\n

YouTube<\/a> is a good option if you want shorter highlights and you don\u2019t have on-demand access to any of the above sources. You can also watch short highlight videos on the Giro d\u2019Italia site<\/a>, although the Giro\u2019s own highlights are often patchy and appear at variable intervals after the end of the stages.<\/p>\n
