Gravel riding has evolved from a niche oddity to one of cycling\u2019s fastest-growing disciplines.<\/p>\n

Every mainstream brand has a gravel bike<\/a> in its line-up and the increasing diversification of the category means there\u2019s more choice for riders than ever before.<\/p>\n

For many, a gravel bike is an all-terrain adventure machine that enables you to get off the beaten track, away from busy roads and to explore new horizons. Blending the efficient ride of a road bike with off-road capability makes the do-it-all gravel bike a one-bike solution for many riders.<\/p>\n

For others, gravel bikes are cutting-edge race machines that are as highly optimised as WorldTour road bikes<\/a>. Aero-optimised tech and back-achingly low positions are now commonplace at the pointy end of racing \u2013 a far cry from the humble \u2018ride what ya brung\u2019 nature of early gravel racing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The rise of gravel has changed direction more than the face of wider cycling tech, however.<\/p>\n

Gravel riding has helped to develop new communities<\/a> and open up cycling to a more diverse mix of people than ever before.<\/p>\n

The number of gravel events has also exploded. From serious races with six-figure prize pots that attract former and current pros, to more relaxed events that celebrate the \u2018party pace\u2019 over \u2018race pace\u2019, there\u2019s something for all tastes.<\/p>\n
