<p>Schwalbe has unveiled the Pro One Aero, which it calls its most aerodynamic road bike tyre.<\/p>\n<p>The brand claims the 28c Pro One Aero produces 20 per cent less drag at 45kph than the previous href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/buyers-guide-to-road-bike-wheels\/&quot;\">best road bike wheels<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration between Scott, Syncros and Swiss engineering company Radiate saw the Pro One Aero tested in the wind tunnel and on the road, according to Schwalbe.<\/p>\n<p>Schwalbe hasn\u2019t said how many watts or how much time the Pro One Aero also doesn\u2019t offer any rolling resistance claims, so we can only presume the Pro One Aero is faster overall than the existing model.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve weighed the Schwalbe Pro One Aero front tyre at 243g, which is the optimal weight for aerodynamics, according to the brand.<\/p>\n<p>On our scales, the rear Pro One Aero weighs 268g. Schwalbe says the additional weight increases puncture protection but not rolling resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Although light for a <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-tubeless-road-tyres\/&quot;\">tubeless road bike tyre<\/a>, the Schwalbe Pro One Aero is considerably heavier than the <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/schwalbe-pro-one-aerothan-tyre\/&quot;\">prototype Pro One Aerothan<\/a> at a claimed 165g.<\/p>\n<h2>Who will ride the Schwalbe Pro One the German brand claims numerous professional cycling teams and triathletes have been riding the Pro One Aero.<\/p>\n<p>It claims the tyre will be used widely at the Ironman World Championships in Nice and Kona, where low rolling resistance and drag are prized attributes in a tyre.<\/p>\n<p>Given they ride <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/time-trial-bikes\/&quot;\">time trial bikes<\/a>, you might expect triathletes to use the Schwalbe Pro One TT.<\/p>\n<p>If the Pro One Aero is as aerodynamic and puncture resistant as Schwalbe claims, where does that leave the brand\u2019s dedicated time trial tyre, the Pro One TT?<\/p>\n<p>On paper, the Schwalbe Pro One Aero sounds like a direct competitor to the <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/continental-gp5000-as-tr\/&quot;\">Continental GP5000 TT TR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Continental says the <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/pro-bike\/worldtour-bikes\/&quot;\">WorldTour teams<\/a> it sponsors have used the GP5000 TT TR on fast, smooth-surfaced road stages and not just in <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/fitness-and-training\/10-steps-to-your-best-ever-time-trial\/&quot;\">time trials<\/a> \u2013 we spotted it fitted to Tadej Poga\u010dar\u2019s Colnago V4Rs at the <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/events\/tour-de-france\/&quot;\">Tour de France<\/a> Grand D\u00e9part, among others.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s possible we\u2019ll see
