Rotor<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Having recently updated its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/rotor-2inpower-sl\">2INpower SL power meter<\/a> crankset, Rotor is now updating its mountain-bike specific spider-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-power-meters\/\">power meter<\/a>.<\/p><p>This type of power meter sandwiches in between the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/cranksets\">crankset<\/a> and chainrings, and measures the total power produced by both legs.<\/p><p>As Rotor notes, this has advantages and disadvantages (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/opinion\/the-perfect-power-meter-doesnt-exist\/\">the perfect power meter doesn&#8217;t exist<\/a>, after all).<\/p><p>On the one hand, spider-based power meters are typically less at risk of impacts, for example.<\/p><p>On the other, though spider-based power meters measure the total power produced by both legs, they don\u2019t measure each side independently.<\/p><p>This means they can only estimate left\/right power balance, as opposed to measuring it.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1706\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2023\/12\/Rotor-INspider-MTB-Shimano-compatible_005-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Rotor INspider MTB Shimano compatible with Shimano cranks\" class=\"wp-image-808881\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The INspider MTB Shimano Compatible can be used with any direct-mount Shimano crankset. &#8211; Rotor<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Rotor INspider MTB Shimano Compatible is, as the name suggests, compatible with Shimano\u2019s range of direct-mount mountain bike cranksets.<\/p><p>This includes cranksets from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/groupsets\/groupset-mountain\/shimano-xtr-m9100-review\">XTR M9100<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/groupsets\/groupset-mountain\/shimano-deore-xt-m8100-review\">Deore XT M8100<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/groupsets\/groupset-mountain\/shimano-slx-m7100-groupset-review\">SLX M7100<\/a> and, in theory, any other crankset that uses the same direct-mount interface.<\/p><p>This is a key standard for a power meter brand such as Rotor to target, because while Shimano has made power meter cranksets for road bikes since the introduction of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/shimano-dura-ace-r9100-and-r9150-di2-groupsets-all-you-need-to-know\">Dura-Ace R9100<\/a> in 2017, it has yet to release a power meter designed for gravel or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-mountain-bike\">mountain bike<\/a> use.\u00a0<\/p><p>As a result, third-party power meter brands such as Rotor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/brand\/stages\">Stages<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/brand\/srm\/\">SRM<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/training\/power-meters\/power2max-ng-road-review\">Power2Max<\/a> have looked to exploit this gap in the market.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-rotor-inspider-mtb-shimano-compatible-pricing-details-and-specification\">Rotor INspider MTB Shimano Compatible pricing, details and specification<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2023\/12\/Rotor-INspider-MTB-Shimano-compatible_004-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Rotor INspider MTB Shimano compatible with Shimano cranks\" class=\"wp-image-808880\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Rotor&#8217;s INspider MTB is claimed to measure your total power output to within plus or minus 1.5 per cent accuracy. &#8211;
