{"id":57857,"date":"2023-12-23T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-23T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/19461474-1807-4289-bb2e-1a01418fdc16"},"modified":"2024-01-03T09:08:03","modified_gmt":"2024-01-03T08:08:03","slug":"pinnacle-radium-road-cycling-shoes-review","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/pinnacle-radium-road-cycling-shoes-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">Slightly quirky looks, but there&#8217;s nothing wrong with the ride <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Simon Withers\n      <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Saturday, 23 December 2023 at 16:00 PM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><div class=\"wp-block-purple-m101-price-comparsion m101-review-top\"><div class=\"m101\" data-type=\"price-comparison\" data-template=\"default\" data-url=\"\" data-title=\"\" data-config=\"{&quot;searchKeywords&quot;:&quot;Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes&quot;,&quot;excludeKeywords&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;price&quot;:&quot;120.00&quot;,&quot;delta&quot;:&quot;1&quot;,&quot;limit&quot;:&quot;4&quot;}\"\/><\/div><p>Evans Cycles promises &#8220;affordable everyday comfort and performance&#8221; from its own-brand Radium road cycling shoes.<\/p><p>They look the part, with a Boa-like dial and forefoot Velcro strap. <\/p><p>While they seem slightly under-specced for a pair of shoes costing \u00a3120, they\u2019re very good performers at the sort of heavily reduced price you can often find them for. <\/p><h2 id=\"h-pinnacle-radium-road-cycling-shoes-spec-and-details\">Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes spec and details<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-landscape_thumbnail\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Closure is via a single Freelock dial and a Velcro strap at the front. &#8211; Simon Withers \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>It\u2019s a pretty familiar spec picture at this price for the Pinnacle Radiums.<\/p><p>A medium-stiffness nylon outsole, a closure that combines a single Boa-like dial and Velcro forefoot strap, and a microfibre upper and mesh tongue featuring plenty of laser-cut ventilation holes are on the menu.<\/p><p>Unusually, the tongue is housed under a diagonal cut pointing inwards, rather than the more traditional forward-pointing line followed by most other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-road-cycling-shoes\">road cycling shoes<\/a>.<\/p><p>The rest of the upper is plentifully perforated for ventilation, as is the sole, with three toe vents and five more placed along the centre.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-pinnacle-radium-road-cycling-shoes-performance\">Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes performance<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-landscape_thumbnail\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2023\/10\/Pinnacle-Radium-Road-Cycling-Shoes-06-6bf2409.jpg\" alt=\"Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes\" class=\"wp-image-752193\" title=\"Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes - 06\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The nylon sole, which isn&#8217;t overly stiff, would suit the more recreational rider. &#8211; Simon Withers \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>I\u2019m not sure whether it\u2019s that distinctive tongue design, but these shoes felt slightly odd at first, with a little bit of pressure building up on the top of my foot at the angle over the instep.<\/p><p>It wasn\u2019t much, though, and after the first hour it disappeared entirely when the Radiums became unnoticeable \u2013 presumably because the shoe had \u2018bedded in\u2019 a little \u2013 which is pretty much what you want from a pair of cycling shoes.<\/p><p>On later rides, it wasn&#8217;t evident at all, even at the start, so it was really just a case of wearing them in for a few miles.<\/p><p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/does-cycling-shoe-stiffness-actually-matter\"> sole isn\u2019t overly stiff<\/a>, so will suit more recreational riders rather than the competitively minded among us. Like the rest of the shoe, it proved comfortable as the miles racked up.<\/p><p>That sole is more walking-friendly than some, but even with the shoes fully tightened I found my heel rising slightly from the heel bed.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-landscape_thumbnail\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2023\/10\/Pinnacle-Radium-Road-Cycling-Shoes-02-29281b3.jpg\" alt=\"Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes\" class=\"wp-image-752189\" title=\"Pinnacle Radium Road Cycling Shoes - 02\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pinnacle&#8217;s Radium shoes are very good performers at the sort of heavily reduced price you can often find them for. &#8211; Simon Withers \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>This wasn\u2019t the case when riding, and you\u2019re not likely to walk any distance in them, but it was noticeable when clopping around my local caf\u00e9 stops.<\/p><p>Rather than the usual Atop or the market-leading Boa found on more expensive shoes, the Radiums come with Freelock dials, which are a very Boa-like affair, working in exactly the same way.<\/p><p>I found it hard to determine any real difference in function, with both having similar actions and adjustable in small increments.<\/p><p>I wasn&#8217;t so keen on the shiny black tongue, which I thought might lead to sweaty feet, but it&#8217;s softly padded on the inside and well-vented.
