Keep an eye out for our full review, but for now, we\u2019ll dig deeper into the details.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-lugged-and-loaded\">Lugged and loaded<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Atherton&#8217;s AM.130.1 looks to be a serious trail slayer. &#8211; Luke Marshall \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The AM.130 features an unconventional frame construction more commonly associated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-steel-road-bikes\">steel road bikes<\/a> than mountain bikes.<\/p><p>Carbon fibre tubes are bonded into multi-jet-printed titanium lugs to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/atherton-bikes\">construct the frame<\/a>, with Atherton saying the AM.130 has been tested to downhill bike standard, passing the EFBE Cat 5 industry standard test with \u201cflying colours\u201d.<\/p><p>This means the bike is rated for use in bike parks and on downhill trails with extreme gradients.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/Atherton-AM.130.1-titamium-printed-head-tube-lug.jpg\" alt=\"Atherton AM.130.1 lug\" class=\"wp-image-811255\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Atherton&#8217;s head badge is made from polished titanium. &#8211; Luke Marshall \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>A Dave Weagle designed six-bar linkage controls the bike&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/how-much-suspension-travel-do-i-need-on-my-mountain-bike\">130mm of rear travel<\/a>, which Atherton says offers suppleness at the top of the stroke for outstanding small-bump sensitivity, while providing good mid-stroke support.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/Atherton-AM.130.1-DW6-suspension-platform.jpg\" alt=\"Atherton AM.130.1 with DW6 suspension linkage\" class=\"wp-image-811243\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Six-bar linkage designs give frame manufacturers more leverage curve adjustment. &#8211;
