{"id":58397,"date":"2024-01-10T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/d33b36bd-3f5c-49e7-b7a5-730ae47123c4"},"modified":"2024-01-10T19:01:01","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T18:01:01","slug":"wtbs-1-6kg-bailiff-fat-tyres-have-312-studs-and-will-cost-you-249-99-each","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/wtbs-1-6kg-bailiff-fat-tyres-have-312-studs-and-will-cost-you-249-99-each\/","title":{"rendered":"WTB\u2019s 1.6kg Bailiff fat tyres have 312 studs and will cost you \u00a3249.99 each"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">We check out WTB&#8217;s first fat tyre <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Wednesday, 10 January 2024 at 16:00 PM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>With Arctic winds howling through the UK at the moment, we thought it fitting to take a closer look at WTB\u2019s new Bailiff tyres.<\/p><p>The Bailiff is WTB\u2019s first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-fat-bike\">fat bike<\/a> tyre, breaking down the door of another discipline for the brand best known for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-gravel-tyres\">gravel tyres<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-mountain-bike-tyres\">mountain bike tyres<\/a>.<\/p><p>WTB says it has used its four decades of manufacturing experience, plus hundreds of hours of testing, to create the new winter trail tyre.<\/p><p>The tyre is only available in a 27.5&#215;4.5in size and can be purchased with or without studs.<\/p><p>Prices start at \u00a3119.99 \/ $134.99 \/ \u20ac127 for the non-studded version, while the studded tyre is priced at \u00a3249.99 \/ $251.95 \/ \u20ac269.<\/p><p>The Bailiff tyres are available now in North America and due to land in Europe in March.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-carbide-studs\">Carbide studs<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Carbide tips are used to increase longevity. &#8211; Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/studded-tyres-for-ice\">studded tyres<\/a> feature 312 steel carbide studs in the tread pattern to generate better traction on ice.<\/p><p>This is 96 more than the 216 found on Bontrager\u2019s Gnarwal fat tyres, but not all the studs have to be used, with WTB providing a guide on where best to add them depending on the conditions.<\/p><p>The studded Bailiff weighs a claimed 1,617g per tyre, with the unstudded variant 1,530g.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/AM9A2256-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"WTB Bailiff tyres\" class=\"wp-image-811224\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Bailiffs can be used with or without the studs. &#8211; Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Studs can be retrofitted or removed, with the tyres being compatible with studs from expedition brands Terrene and 45N.<\/p><h2>Soft and wide<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/AM9A2257-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"WTB Bailiff tyres\" class=\"wp-image-811223\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">At 4.5in wide, the Bailiffs have a maximum pressure of 20psi. &#8211;
