All-road bike fits 38mm tyres and trades butted for straight-gauge tubing, lowering price <\/p>

Moots has released the Vamoots 33, an \u2018all-road\u2019 addition to its Vamoots road bike line-up.\u00a0<\/p>

The Vamoots 33 is a jack-of-all-trades road bike \u201cdesigned to tackle any road, anytime\u201d, thanks to its 38mm tyre clearance, according to Moots.\u00a0<\/p>

The bike is named after County Road 33, \u201ca local pavement route just outside the Moots front door\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>

It sits alongside the Vamoots CRD<\/a> (Complete Road Design) and Vamoots RCS (Routt Country Special) in the brand\u2019s road bike<\/a> range.\u00a0<\/p>

While the Vamoots 33 is still on the pricey side, Moots has taken steps to make it more affordable than its other titanium bikes<\/a>, with pricing starting at $7,499.\u00a0<\/p>

To keep costs down, Moots is using a \u201cstraight-gauge seamless US sourced 3\/2.5in\u201d titanium tubeset. This is more affordable compared to the RSL tubing used for the Vamoots CRD and RCS.\u00a0<\/p>

The 3\/2.5in tubing costs less because, unlike the RSL tubing, it’s not butted. This means it has a uniform wall thickness throughout, whereas butted tubing has thinner walls in the middle of its length than its ends.<\/p>

This isn\u2019t the first time Moots has used this straight-gauge tubing. It is also employed on the Moots Routt 45<\/a> gravel bike.\u00a0<\/p>

Another cost-saving measure is used at the rear of the Vamoots 33. Moots\u2019 3D-printed dropout, found on its higher-end models, is swapped for an \u201cin-house machined breezer-style hooded dropout paired to a 3D-printed flat mount brake mount\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>

The Vamoots 33 uses a 27.2mm-diameter seatpost<\/a> and a 1 \u215b to 1 \u00bc in headset<\/a> standard.\u00a0<\/p>

The all-road bike<\/a> can fit mudguards<\/a>, with room for tyres up to 32-35mm wide, according to Moots.<\/p>

The Moots Vamoots 33 has the same geometry as the Vamoots RCS.<\/p>

Moots says the geometry was designed to result in a \u201ccalm-handling bike but spirited enough to ride pacelines and shoot into gaps and chase wheels\u201d. The reasonable 384mm reach, in a size 56cm, is paired with a tall 597mm stack.\u00a0<\/p>
