As the name suggests, these feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/ceramic-bearings\">ceramic bearings<\/a> and a titanium axle.<\/p><p>BikeRadar\u2019s senior technical editor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/author\/ashley-quinlan\">Ashley Quinlan<\/a>, has been putting the mid-range option through its paces this past month. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/pedals\/look-keo-blade-ceramic-pedals-review\">Follow the link to read his full review<\/a> of the new Look Keo Blade Ceramic pedals.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-look-s-fastest-ever-pedal\">Look\u2019s fastest-ever pedal<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Look says changes to the underside of its new Keo Blade pedals make them more aerodynamic than before. &#8211; Look<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>According to Look, the updated Keo Blade pedals are more aerodynamic than ever before thanks to a \u201clower frontal surface\u201d and an \u201call-new leading edge profile\u201d.<\/p><p>As noted, these changes are claimed to confer a \u201ctwo per cent\u201d improvement to aerodynamic efficiency compared to the previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/look-tour-de-france-keo-blade-pedals\">Keo Blade pedals<\/a>.<\/p><p>Look says the aerodynamic shape of the new Keo Blade pedals was first developed using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modelling.<\/p><p>The final design was then taken to a wind tunnel to be benchmarked against key competitors, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/brand\/speedplay\">Wahoo&#8217;s Speedplay Aero<\/a> pedal.<\/p><p>According to Look, the Keo Blade was the most aerodynamic pedal it tested, though it hasn&#8217;t provided any figures to illustrate the claimed difference in performance.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-wide-yet-light-and-durable\">Wide yet light and durable<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1334\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/Look-keo-blade-ceramic-ti-side-view.jpg\" alt=\"Look Keo Blade pedal\" class=\"wp-image-813002\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Keo Blade Ceramic Ti is the lightest in the range, with a claimed weight of just 95g per pedal. &#8211; Look<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Perhaps the most notable change versus previous Keo Blade pedals is the enlarged pedal body.<\/p><p>According to the Look, the pedal body area has increased from 700 to 705mm<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p><p>To our eyes, the new pedals look a little more akin to Shimano\u2019s higher-end SPD-SL pedals, such as the Dura-Ace PD-R9100, albeit with the bottom filled in for aerodynamic purposes.<\/p><p>Look says this should help to reduce incidences of &#8216;hot spots&#8217; on your feet and improve pedalling stability.<\/p><p>Despite getting a little bigger, Look says the pedals remain compatible with existing Look Keo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/how-to-install-and-adjust-cycling-cleats\">cycling cleats<\/a>.<\/p><p>The Keo Blade pedals remain competitively light, starting at just 95g per pedal for the flagship Keo Blade Ceramic Ti.<\/p><p>This is mainly thanks to the lightweight, carbon fibre pedal body, meaning the cheaper versions aren\u2019t much heavier, despite swapping the titanium axle for chromoly steel ones.<\/p><p>As such, the Keo Blade and Keo Blade Ceramic share a claimed weight of 115g per pedal.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/Look_Pedals_Keo-Blade-Ceramic-Ti_expanded-view.jpg\" alt=\"Look Keo Blade Ceramic Ti pedal expanded view\" class=\"wp-image-812958\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Keo Blade pedals have also seen an internal overhaul for improved durability. &#8211; Look<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Look says it has also paid particular attention to the durability of the new pedals.<\/p><p>A new spindle design, alongside updated, dual-sealed bearings and a reformulated grease, is claimed to offer superior resistance to water intrusion.<\/p><p>Look also says the area that contacts the Keo cycling cleats has been updated to a \u201chigh-grade stainless steel\u201d, while the composite pedal body is claimed to have \u201c200 per cent higher robustness and impact resistance\u201d.<\/p><p>The retention lever is also said to have been updated to help improve cleat durability.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-easier-to-clip-in-to\">Easier to clip in to<\/h2><p>While many experienced cyclists may take it for granted, learning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/skills\/how-to-use-clipless-pedals\">how to use clipless pedals<\/a> is typically a steep learning curve.<\/p><p>Given this, Look has also looked to make the new Keo Blade pedals easier to clip in to.<\/p><p>Compared to the previous-generation pedals, Look says the new Keo Blade range offers \u201c60 per cent easier clip-in rotation due to an improved weight balance\u201d.<\/p><p>It\u2019s not entirely clear what that means, but the upshot is, according to Look, the new Keo Blade pedals allow for quicker disengagements (clipping out) without compromising pedalling security or introducing unwanted movement when clipped in.<\/p><h2 id=\"h-look-keo-blade-pedal-range\">Look Keo Blade pedal range<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"799\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/LOOK_KEO_BLADE_CERAMIC_TI.jpg\" alt=\"Look Keo Blade Ceramic Ti pedal\" class=\"wp-image-812952\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The new Keo Blade range is topped by the \u00a3299.99 \/ $389 \/ \u20ac310 Ceramic Ti version, but cheaper variants are also available. &#8211;
