{"id":58755,"date":"2024-01-26T12:18:53","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T11:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/7fa5382e-8865-4a46-b3f2-b3ab23866e50"},"modified":"2024-01-26T15:02:06","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T14:02:06","slug":"new-trek-wahoo-path-helps-bridge-gap-to-adult-bikes","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/new-trek-wahoo-path-helps-bridge-gap-to-adult-bikes\/","title":{"rendered":"New Trek Wahoo Path helps bridge gap to adult bikes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">Lightweight hybrid kids\u2019 bike features a Microshift drivetrain <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Oscar Huckle\n      <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Friday, 26 January 2024 at 11:18 AM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Trek has launched the Wahoo Path kids&#8217; bike, described as a premium hybrid with adult componentry to help bridge the gap to adult bikes.\u00a0<\/p><p>The Wahoo Path is said to have a lighter overall weight, thanks to its frame material and components, as well as a Microshift 1&#215;8-speed drivetrain.\u00a0<\/p><p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-kids-bikes-a-buyers-guide\">kids\u2019 bike<\/a> sits below the Trek Wahoo Trail launched last summer.\u00a0<\/p><p>Available in three sizes, Trek says it&#8217;s suitable for children from 6 to 13 years and beyond.<\/p><p>Trek says the Wahoo Path will be available globally, but\u00a0pricing and availability are to be confirmed.\u00a0<\/p><h2 id=\"h-a-lighter-frame-with-microshift-components\">A lighter frame with Microshift components\u00a0<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The new frame is distinguishable by the strut at the top tube and seat tube junction. &#8211; Trek<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Wahoo Path frame is constructed from Trek\u2019s Alpha Silver Aluminium, said to keep the bike lightweight and manageable for kids.\u00a0<\/p><p>The top tube is dropped compared to its predecessor, with a secondary strut connecting the top tube to the seat tube.\u00a0<\/p><p>Unlike the Wahoo Trail, which uses a carbon fork and disc brakes, the Wahoo Path has an alloy fork and V-brakes.\u00a0<\/p><p>The bike uses Microshift Acolyte SL-M6285 trigger shifters, paired with an 8-speed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/1x-drivetrains\">1x drivetrain<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>The bike comes with a kickstand and can fit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-mudguards-fenders-a-buyers-guide\">mudguards<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>The maximum recommended tyre size is 2.2in with mudguards or 2.4in without. The minimum-size tyre Trek recommends is 2in.\u00a0<\/p><p>The bikes use Trek\u2019s proprietary ThruSkew 5mm quick-release axles. These have a small nut on the threaded insert of the dropout that keeps the quick-release locked in place to prevent the wheel from falling out.\u00a0<\/p><p>Trek specs a square tapered, threaded 68mm bottom bracket for easy maintenance.\u00a0<\/p><p>The Wahoo Path is not compatible with stabilisers.\u00a0<\/p><h2 id=\"h-three-sizes\">Three sizes<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2250\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/01\/Wahoo26Path-24-40929-B-Primary.png\" alt=\"Trek Wahoo Path 26 against a white background \" class=\"wp-image-813724\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Wahoo Path comes in three sizes. &#8211; Trek<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Wahoo Path will be suitable for children from 6 years old.
