Before I reveal this edition\u2019s tech goodies, let\u2019s recap on the week just gone.\u00a0<\/p><p>We\u2019ll first head back to last weekend, where senior technical editor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/author\/ashley-quinlan\">Ashley Quinlan<\/a> brought us an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/opinion\/waterproof-jacket-testing-lessons\">insight into his testing regime<\/a> from a winter of putting the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-waterproof-jackets-for-cyclists\">waterproof jackets <\/a>through their paces.\u00a0<\/p><p>Voicing a spicier opinion was digital writer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/author\/jack-evans\">Jack Evans<\/a>, who proclaimed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/opinion\/the-winter-bike-is-dead\">the winter bike is dead and Zwift is to blame<\/a>. The Propero 4 combines the aerodynamic and ventilation properties of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/helmets\/road-cycling-helmets\/specialized-s-works-evade-3-helmet-review\">S-Works Evade 3<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/helmets\/road-cycling-helmets\/specialized-s-works-prevail-3-road-helmet-review\">Prevail 3<\/a> helmets at a more affordable price point and the new Torch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-road-cycling-shoes\">cycling shoes<\/a> are heavily inspired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/specialized-s-works-torch-shoes\">S-Works Torch<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The much-teased <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/factor-ostro-vam-2024\">Factor Ostro VAM<\/a> also launched this week, the brand\u2019s second-generation all-rounder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-aero-road-bike\">aero road bike<\/a>. There\u2019s a dual-valve system, with the larger valve for inflation and the smaller one to dump all the air out in one go when putting the mat away.\u00a0<\/p><p>The sleeping mat is available in six sizes \u2013 20x72in, 20x78in, 25x78in, 25x72in, 20x66in and finally a 40x72in two-person option. My previously dubbed \u201cdiscerning bottom\u201d agrees they are deserving of the praise and they\u2019ve quickly risen straight to the top of my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-cycling-shorts\">bib shorts<\/a> pile for warmer rides. As a result, I was eager to test their winter equivalent.\u00a0<\/p><p>Like the bib shorts, these tights use a supple and compressive high-gauge Luxe fabric with minimal seams for a second-skin fit. Although the brand says it would prefer if everything was locally sourced, it states \u201cwe won\u2019t compromise on using inferior products to achieve that\u201d.\u00a0<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/02\/AM9A3659-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Q36.5 Anfibio Winter Rain overshoes\" class=\"wp-image-817243\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">There&#8217;s a matching set of overshoes. &#8211; Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Both the gloves and overshoes use a three-layer fabric that includes a waterproof membrane between two polyamide layers to keep you warm and dry on wet rides. Compared to neoprene, Q36.5 says this construction is more breathable because it prevents condensation next to the skin \u2013 particularly useful in the case of the gloves.\u00a0<\/p><p>Both products are said to fit like a second skin and I like that the cuffs of the overshoes come up very high.
