Now the Agilest Fast follows as an update that hones in on performance.<\/p><p>According to Panaracer\u2019s testing, the Agilest Fast is said to be \u201cup there with the [Continental GP5000]\u201d, in terms of low rolling resistance, although we haven\u2019t yet seen any of Panaracer\u2019s test results.<\/p><p>The Panaracer Agilest Fast will cost \u00a369.99 \/ $79.99 per tyre.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-electron-beam-bonding\">Electron beam bonding<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Agilest Fast uses what Panaracer\u2019s Jeff Zell describes as an \u2018electron beam bonding\u2019 manufacturing process.<\/p><p>\u201cI know, it sounds like a bad 1950s science-fiction movie,\u201d Zell told BikeRadar at COREbike, one of the UK\u2019s biggest trade shows for the cycling industry.<\/p><p>\u201cIt&#8217;s an electron beam that merges all of the layers [in the tyre] together and eliminates any error \u2013 or the possibility of a gap between layers.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><p>Zell says the process, used in other industries, improves the integrity of the tyre \u2013 reducing the likelihood of quality-control issues, while also lowering the rolling resistance.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/02\/Panaracer-Agilest-FAST-road-bike-tyres-5-of-6.jpg\" alt=\"Panaracer Agilest FAST road bike tyre\" class=\"wp-image-817650\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>According to Zell, a tyre\u2019s typical manufacturing process, whereby the different layers of material are assembled and then vulcanised, increases the possibility of small manufacturing defects, which may not be visible when the tyre is checked for quality control.<\/p><p>\u201cWe&#8217;re always looking for new ways to come up with things that make the product line stand out, more than just a regular road bike tyre, and that&#8217;s now leading us to Fast,\u201d said Zell.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/02\/Panaracer-Agilest-FAST-road-bike-tyres-6-of-6.jpg\" alt=\"Panaracer Agilest FAST road bike tyre\" class=\"wp-image-817646\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The electron beam bonding process allows for \u201cmuch more precise alignment and bonding of the materials, however many there are,\u201d according to Zell. \u201cYou\u2019re not leaving things to chance as much.\u201d <\/p><p>The tyre still goes on to be vulcanised, Zell adds.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-as-fast-as-anything-in-the-market\">\u2018As fast as anything in the market\u2019<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/02\/Panaracer-Agilest-FAST-road-bike-tyres-1-of-6.jpg\" alt=\"Panaracer Agilest FAST road bike tyre\" class=\"wp-image-817647\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Agilest Fast is the brand\u2019s fastest road tyre. \u201cIt\u2019s as fast as anything in the market,\u201d adds Zell. \u201cBoth in our testing and also in independent laboratory testing.\u201d<\/p><p>Zell told BikeRadar that he\u2019s waiting for the final set of test results from a lab in Belgium, but \u201cright now we\u2019re right up there with the GP5000\u201d.<\/p><p>We\u2019ll be bringing you more exclusive tech insights from the COREbike show \u2013 keep your eyes on BikeRadar.<\/p> <\/body><\/html>\n<hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New tyre uses &#8216;electron beam bonding&#8217;
