Rather than being a crank-based power meter, the HPPM is a spider-based power meter, with its 16 sensors positioned in the spokes of the crankset.\u00a0<\/p><p>This also means the Campagnolo HPPM power meter has a different look. Gone is the smooth body of the Campagnolo SPW crankset and a more conventional two-part design is in its place.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-does-the-campagnolo-hppm-power-meter-work\">How does the Campagnolo HPPM power meter work?<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/Campagnolo-HPPM-power-meter2024020999.jpg\" alt=\"Close up of Campagnolo HPPM crankset showing charging point and LED.\" class=\"wp-image-825114\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The power meter has 16 strain gauges and a gyroscope. &#8211; Campagnolo<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Many of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-power-meters\">best power meters<\/a> claim accuracy within \uff0b\/- 1 per cent and Campagnolo is keen to stress how its first power meter is this accurate too.\u00a0<\/p><p>The Campagnolo HPPM has 16 strain gauges with four in each quarter of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/cranksets\">crankset<\/a>.<\/p><p>Campagnolo says the gauges produce multiple readings, which are combined using an algorithm to achieve the power meter\u2019s readings.\u00a0<\/p><p>The company says the power meter employs a Wheatstone bridge design, an electrical circuit used to measure unknown electrical resistance and said to be more accurate than other circuits.\u00a0<\/p><p>The HPPM\u2019s accuracy is also due to a gyroscope providing live measurements and high-frequency data sampling.<\/p><p>Angular velocity and torque signals are measured every five milliseconds. The frequency is 200 hertz for \u201cthe clearest possible reading of the data\u201d, according to Campagnolo.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-000-watts\">4,000 watts<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/Campagnolo-HPPM-power-meter2024032196-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Greg van Avermaet riding BMC road bike with Campagnolo HPPM power meter.\" class=\"wp-image-825118\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Campagnolo says the HPPM will provide power readings up to 4,000 watts. &#8211; Campagnolo<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Campagnolo HPPM\u2019s functionality extends beyond riding ability or even conditions.<\/p><p>Campagnolo says the HPPM will measure power meter readings up to 4,000 watts.<\/p><p>The operating temperature of the power meter also has a range of 80\u02daC, from -20\u02daC (-4\u02daF) to 60\u02daC (140\u02daF).<\/p><p>Campagnolo says its first power meter has high data stability with internal temperature compensation.<\/p><p>The brand also promises \u201csuper fast charging\u201d, with the serviceable battery taking 3h 45min to reach full power.\u00a0<\/p><p>The battery charge lasts five weeks, assuming 500km per week at 20\u02daC, according to Campagnolo. The power meter uses the same magnetic charging port as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/groupsets\/groupset-road\/campagnolo-super-record-wireless\">Campagnolo Super Record WRL<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-new-my-campy-3-0-companion-app\">New My Campy 3.0 companion app<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/Campagnolo-HPPM-power-meter2024032194-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Hand holding phone displaying new Campagnolo My Campy app.\" class=\"wp-image-825116\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The My Campy 3.0 app enables you to calibrate the HPPM and see live data readings. &#8211; Campagnolo<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Campagnolo has launched the new My Campy 3.0 app to support the HPPM power meter.\u00a0<\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-cycling-apps\">cycling app<\/a> enables you to calibrate the system in a few steps and see live data from the power meter.\u00a0<\/p><p>The app shows the battery charge of all components in the\u00a0Campagnolo ecosystem, such as the derailleurs and shifters, and the shift count of the cranks and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/workshop\/bike-cassettes\">cassette<\/a>.<\/p><p>The system uses Bluetooth and ANT\uff0b to connect with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-bike-computers\">bicycle computer<\/a>.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-campagnolo-hppm-range-options\">Campagnolo HPPM range options<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/Campagnolo-HPPM-power-meter2024020900.jpg\" alt=\"Close up of Campagnolo HPPM Super Record crankset.\" class=\"wp-image-825115\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">There are three crank-length options available. &#8211;
