{"id":63216,"date":"2024-04-30T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-30T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/0e913b14-0db5-4c59-b06e-089c1e44503d"},"modified":"2024-04-30T11:59:42","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T09:59:42","slug":"zwift-teases-new-watopia-climb-training-updates-and-tour-de-france-celebrations","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/zwift-teases-new-watopia-climb-training-updates-and-tour-de-france-celebrations\/","title":{"rendered":"Zwift teases new Watopia climb, training updates and Tour de France celebrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">Indoor cycling app&#8217;s new features will help you &#8220;reach new fitness heights&#8221; <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Stan Portus\n      <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Tuesday, 30 April 2024 at 09:00 AM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Zwift has teased Tour de France celebrations and announced training updates alongside a new climb in Watopia.\u00a0<\/p><p>The string of announcements comes as the seasons change, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-indoor-cycling-apps\">indoor cycling app<\/a> aiming to help you \u201creach new fitness heights\u201d.\u00a0<\/p><p>Alongside the Tour de France celebrations, Zwift is refreshing its interface and adding greater flexibility with other training platforms over the coming months.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tour-de-france-celebrations\">Tour de France celebrations<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">New climbs will be available across the three weeks of the 2024 Tour de France. &#8211; Zwift<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Zwift will celebrate the Tour de France with a month of Tour-themed content in July, including map refreshes, races and climbs.\u00a0<\/p><p>Last year, Zwift <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/zwift-climb-portals\">introduced Climb Portals<\/a>, which meant you could climb famous mountains from the 2023 Tour de France.<\/p><p>For this year\u2019s edition of the Tour, eight climbs from the men\u2019s race will be coming to the Portal.<\/p><p>Two climbs will be on the Portal in the race\u2019s first week. There will be three available for the second and third weeks.\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Week 1<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>C\u00f4te des Forche: <\/strong>Stage 1, elevation: 159 m, avg grade: 6.3 per cent, distance: 2.5 km<\/li><li><strong>Col du Galibier (Lautaret):<\/strong> Stage 4, elevation: 563 m, avg grade: 6.6 per cent, distance: 8.6 km<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Week 2<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>Pas de Peyrol\/Puy Mary: <\/strong>Stage 11, elevation: 628 m, avg grade: 6.9 per cent, distance: 9.2 km<\/li><li><strong>Pla d&#8217;Adet: <\/strong>Stage 14, elevation: 873 m, avg grade: 8.2 per cent, distance: 10.7 km\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Col de Peyresourde (Avajan): <\/strong>Stage 15, elevation: 555 m, avg grade: 7.7 per cent, distance: 7.2 km\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Week 3<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>Isola 2000:<\/strong> Stage 19, elevation: 1,157 m, avg grade: 7.1 per cent, distance: 16.2 km<\/li><li><strong>Col de la Couillole:<\/strong> Stage 20, elevation: 1,145 m, avg grade: 7.2 per cent, distance: 15.9 km<\/li><li><strong>La Turbie\/Col d\u2019Eze:<\/strong> Stage 21, elevation: 616m, avg grade: 3.1 per cent, distance: 15.9km<\/li><\/ul><p>The France and Paris Zwift maps will also be &#8216;dressed&#8217; to celebrate the Tour de France and \u201cready to welcome Zwifters looking to join the celebrations\u201d.\u00a0<\/p><p>Throughout July, users can join RoboPacers \u2013 bots that ride at a consistent pace \u2013 leading groups through France and Paris and partake in \u2018Vive la France\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/fitness-and-training\/zwift-racing\">Zwift races<\/a>.<\/p><p>Zwift has also teased its Monthly Missions, which can deliver in-game perks, will be taking place in its virtual France and will have a \u201cTour-themed twist\u201d.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-zwift-s-watch-the-femmes\">Zwift&#8217;s Watch the Femmes<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/535067-TdFFaZ_WTF_PR-db23f8-original-1713459820.png\" alt=\"Graphic showing woman cycling up climb at Tour de Framce Femmes avec Zwift with text which reads Zwift Watch the Femmes.\" class=\"wp-image-850727\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Zwift will &#8216;dress&#8217; Alpe du Zwift for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. &#8211; Zwift<\/figcaption><\/figure><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/zwift-your-complete-guide\">Zwift<\/a> will focus on the third edition of Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift with its &#8216;Watch the Femmes&#8217; content.\u00a0<\/p><p>The race begins on 12 August in Rotterdam, before finishing on Alpe d\u2019Huez.<\/p><p>Zwift\u2019s Alphe du Zwift will be \u201cdressed for the occasion\u201d and from 18-25 August there will be RoboPacers taking place every two hours on the virtual mountain.\u00a0<\/p><p>Structured workouts inspired by Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift contenders will also be available.<\/p><p>Zwift has hinted more content related to the women\u2019s race will be released.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-zwift-expands-watopia-with-the-grade\">Zwift expands Watopia with The Grade<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/535074-tsoz-spring_04-2024_watopia-expansion-pr-6aad2e-original-1713459820.jpg\" alt=\"Graphic from Zwift showing mountains and text which reads The Grade.\" class=\"wp-image-850731\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Grade is designed to be testing. &#8211; Zwift<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Zwift has announced The Grade, a new climb on the west side of Watopia\u2019s Southern Coast, the most recent expansion of Zwift\u2019s virtual worlds.\u00a0<\/p><p>The Grade will run from the Ciudad de La Cumbre and connect the Southern Coast with the backside of the Epic KOM climb.\u00a0<\/p><p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/fitness-and-training\/beginners-guide-to-indoor-training-all-you-need-to-get-started\"> indoor training<\/a> platform says the new climb is a direct and steep passage \u201cdesigned to be testing\u201d.<\/p><p>The expansion will launch in June with new routes for freeride exploration, training and racing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-my-list-will-help-you-plan-workouts\">My List will help you plan workouts<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"858\" height=\"482\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/535072-tsoz-spring_04-2024_my-list-pr-d0f391-original-1713459820.gif\" alt=\"Gif showing how Zwift My List feature will work on mobile.\" class=\"wp-image-850730\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">You will be able to cue workouts with My List. &#8211; Zwift<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Launching in April, Zwift\u2019s new My List feature will help you plan your next training sessions.<\/p><p>Zwift says the feature will enable you to queue routes and structured workouts before you next log in.<\/p><p>Using the Zwift Companion app, you will be able to browse routes and workouts and add them to My List.\u00a0<\/p><p>The selected sessions will then appear on your Zwift home screen next time you take to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-smart-trainer\">turbo trainer<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-heads-up-display-refresh-nbsp\">Heads Up Display refresh\u00a0<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/535076-tsoz-spring_04-2024_hud-refresh-1-pr-cf3d77-original-1713459821.jpg\" alt=\"Graphic showing new Zwift Heads Up Display graphics.\" class=\"wp-image-850732\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Zwift Heads Up Display update introduces customisation and greater clarity. &#8211; Zwift<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Heads Up Display (HUD) shows you information while riding on Zwift, and it\u2019s set to get a makeover this summer.<\/p><p>Zwift says HUD\u2019s new look will \u201cprovide you with more information right where you need it\u201d.<\/p><p>The updated display will feature a new \u2018Climb Mode\u2019 with a dynamic elevation profile. Zwift says this will help you better pace your climbing efforts and it will use the same gradient shading as the Climb Portal.\u00a0<\/p><p>The HUD update will also mean you can customise the data fields in the power tile, which shows information such as power and speed. You will be able to choose from speed, average power, power-to-weight ratio, cadence and heart rate at launch.<\/p><p>Zwift promises the update will bring greater clarity to route progression and elevation in the mini-map.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-zwift-training-connections-for-better-integration\">Zwift Training Connections for better integration<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/535069-tsoz-spring_04-2024_training-connections-pr-3ebcd2-original-1713459820.jpg\" alt=\"Graphic sowing custom workout folder in Zwift.\" class=\"wp-image-850728\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The API Connection will facilitate better integration with third-party training platforms. &#8211; Zwift<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Launching in the summer, Zwift\u2019s Training Connections feature will provide better integration with third-party platforms and coaching services to help you achieve specific training plans.<\/p><p>Zwift says the new training API connection will behave much like other third-party connections on Zwift.\u00a0<\/p><p>Once the API is set up and approved, workouts built outside of Zwift will pull through to the platform and show in the Custom Workouts folder.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-zwift-s-2024-spring-training-nbsp\">Zwift\u2019s 2024 spring training\u00a0<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/04\/535077-Zwift-Spring-Training_ride-2024_5-71c09e-original-1713460241.jpg\" alt=\"Graphic showing group of virtual cyclists riding in Zwift.\" class=\"wp-image-850733\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The training series focuses on improving your outdoor riding. &#8211;
