{"id":66122,"date":"2024-06-25T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/d83b691b-918b-4f5a-b1c4-96afbc2dbea8"},"modified":"2024-06-25T14:25:22","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T12:25:22","slug":"wahoo-waves-goodbye-to-coin-cell-batteries-with-new-rechargeable-trackr-heart-rate-monitor","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/wahoo-waves-goodbye-to-coin-cell-batteries-with-new-rechargeable-trackr-heart-rate-monitor\/","title":{"rendered":"Wahoo waves goodbye to coin-cell batteries with new rechargeable TRACKR heart-rate monitor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">TRACKR claimed to offer 100 hours of &#8216;active&#8217; battery life <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By George Scott\n      <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Tuesday, 25 June 2024 at 12:00 PM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Wahoo has launched a new heart-rate monitor, the TRACKR, with a rechargeable battery offering a claimed 100 hours of \u2018active\u2019 battery life.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/fitness-and-training\/how-to-choose-a-heart-rate-monitor\">Heart-rate monitors<\/a>, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/wahoo-tickr-heart-rate-monitor\">Wahoo&#8217;s existing TICKR<\/a>, typically use a coin-cell battery which needs to be replaced once expired, but the TRACKR moves to a lithium-ion battery charged via a proprietary port on the rear of the pod.<\/p><p>Wahoo says the TRACKR \u201csolves long-standing consumer, environmental, performance, and safety pain points associated with HRMs by eradicating the use of coin-cell batteries\u201d. <\/p><p>Regardless of that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/fitness-and-training\/power-vs-heart-rate\">training with a heart-rate monitor<\/a> remains a cost-effective and relatively simple way to use data to guide your riding, compared to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-power-meters\">power meter<\/a> (even if the latter offers more advanced metrics).<\/p><p>The pod itself has an IPX7 waterproof rating, and offers ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity across multiple devices, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-bike-computers\">bike computers<\/a> and the usual array of popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-cycling-apps\">cycling apps<\/a> with HRM integration, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/zwift-your-complete-guide\">Zwift<\/a> and Strava.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Wahoo says the TRACKR uses a new &#8220;non-invasive side closure&#8221;. &#8211; Wahoo Fitness<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Wahoo says you can connect up to three Bluetooth devices simultaneously.<\/p><p>The pod measures 6.15cm x 3.05cm x 0.95cm and uses a redesigned chest strap with what Wahoo describes as a \u201cnon-invasive side closure\u201d. The claimed weight for the pod and strap is 51g.<\/p><p>The Wahoo TRACKR will cost \u00a379.99 \/ $89.99 \/ \u20ac89.99 \/ CA$119.99 AU$149.95.
