It shaves weight, and increases stiffness and comfort, while retaining an attractive price tag.<\/p><p>The Chinese brand says the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-climbing-bikes\">climbing bike<\/a> should be available in a few weeks, but it only had an SLC3 frameset on display at Eurobike rather than a complete bike.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-low-weight-and-low-price\">Low weight and low price<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The SLC3 frameset weighs a claimed 700g. &#8211; Stan Portus \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Winspace says the new SLC3 frame weighs a claimed 700g unpainted in a size medium, which is 80g lighter than its predecessor.\u00a0<\/p><p>Speaking to BikeRadar at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/events\/eurobike\">Eurobike<\/a>, Winspace\u2019s Fred Zou explained how the brand has reduced the weight partly through a change to a \u201cbetter material\u201d.\u00a0<\/p><p>While the SLC2.0 uses Toray\u2019s T800 and T700 carbon fibres, the SLC3 uses Toray\u2019s T1100 and T1000 high-modulus carbon fibres.<\/p><p>Zhou says an exact price is to be confirmed but we can expect the SLC3 frameset to cost roughly $2,000. This is around $500 more than the SLC2.0, but still much cheaper than similar framesets from bigger cycling brands.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-greater-stiffness\">Greater stiffness<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/07\/Winspace-SL3-Stan-Portus-2024070443.jpg\" alt=\"Rear dropout on Winspace SLC3 road bike.\" class=\"wp-image-870835\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The dropouts are covered. &#8211; Stan Portus \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The SLC3 uses a one-piece moulding process to increase stiffness.<\/p><p>Compared to the SLC2.0, Winspace says the SLC3\u2019s head tube is 31.8 per cent stiffer, while the bottom bracket shell is said to be 36 per cent stiffer.\u00a0<\/p><p>Like the SLC2.0, Winspace says its new climbing bike also has an asymmetrical design for stiffness and, Zou says, \u201cdriving performance\u201d.<\/p><p>The bike also has what Winspace calls an \u201cOptimised Rear Centre design\u201d to aid power transfer.\u00a0<\/p><p>We don\u2019t have details yet, but Zou says Winspace has tweaked the geometry to make the SLC3 more comfortable than the SLC2.0.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-frame-features-nbsp\">Frame features\u00a0<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/07\/Winspace-SL3-Stan-Portus-2024070440.jpg\" alt=\"Seat post for Winspace SLC3 road bike.\" class=\"wp-image-870833\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The SLC3 uses a round 27.2mm seatpost. &#8211; Stan Portus \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The SLC3 frameset shares similar features with Winspace\u2019s other road bikes.\u00a0<\/p><p>The frameset has dropped seatstays that kink to a horizontal position where they meet the seat tube. This is the same as the seatstays on Winspace\u2019s all-rounder C5 road bike and its T1550 aero bike.<\/p><p>Winspace conceals the thru-axle dropouts on the driveside on SLC3 and its other disc-brake road bikes \u2013 a feature that\u2019s similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/bmc-roadmachine-2024\">BMC\u2019s Stealth Dropout Design<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>The SLC3 routes all cables and hoses internally. It seems like these will also run through the bike\u2019s handlebar.<\/p><p>All these features mean the SLC3 is like many of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-road-bikes\">latest and greatest road bikes<\/a>. However, the SLC3 differs in one regard. Instead of using a proprietary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/seatposts\">seatpost<\/a> \u2013 now common on many carbon bikes \u2013 the SLC3 uses a standard round 27.2mm post.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-second-generation-winspace-t1550-aero-road-bike\">Second-generation Winspace T1550 aero road bike<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/07\/Winspace-SL3-Stan-Portus-2024070444.jpg\" alt=\"Winspace T1550 aero road bike.\" class=\"wp-image-870836\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Winspace also has its second-generation T1550 aero road bike on display. &#8211; Stan Portus \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Also on display at Winspace\u2019s Eurobike stand is its second-generation T1550 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-aero-road-bike\">aero road bike<\/a>. The Winspace Women Cycling Team raced the bike at La Vuelta Feminina and Paris-Roubaix Femme.\u00a0<\/p><p>Like the SLC3, Winspace says its latest aero road bike is lighter and stiffer than its predecessor.\u00a0No surprises there, then.<\/p><p>Winspace says the bike shed 50g in weight, which is 6 per cent lighter than the previous model.<\/p><p>The rear triangle stiffness has increased by 36 per cent, according to Winspace, while the bottom bracket is 7 per cent stiffer and the head tube is 33 per cent stiffer than before.<\/p><p>We&#8217;re used to seeing bike brands make bold claims about their latest machines, so there&#8217;s nothing unusual going on here.
