But which one is the most expensive, and which one is the cheapest?\u00a0<\/p><p>We\u2019ve crunched the numbers on each team\u2019s main road race bike.\u00a0<\/p><p>While futuristic time trial bikes, with their abundance of custom 3D-printed components, can cost far more, we\u2019re sticking with each team\u2019s main bike used during a typical road race stage.<\/p><p>There may be slight differences between the bike you see the riders using and the model you can buy, but our prices should be indicative.\u00a0<\/p><p>We&#8217;ve sorted the bikes in ascending order of their price in pounds sterling, though we\u2019ve also included US dollar pricing (which, it&#8217;s worth noting, won&#8217;t always line up exactly).\u00a0<\/p><p>We\u2019ve formed this dollar price from a currency conversion if those bikes aren\u2019t available in the United States. These are marked with an asterisk.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-22-uno-x-mobility-s-dare-vsru\">22. Uno-X Mobility&#8217;s Dare VSRu<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Dare VSRu is the Tour de France&#8217;s most affordable bike. &#8211; Simon von Bromley \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><ul><li>Dare VSRu<\/li><li>\u00a38,388 \/ $7,499*<\/li><\/ul><p>If you want to own a Tour de France team bike at the time of the 2024 <em>Grand D\u00e9part<\/em>, the cheapest way to do so is to buy Uno-X Mobility\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/pro-bike\/alexander-kristoffs-dare-vsru\">Dare VSRu<\/a>.<\/p><p>In mainland Europe, this bike is even cheaper at \u20ac6,990. But shipping this into the UK would incur 20 per cent value added tax, significantly increasing the price. \u00a0<\/p><p>The team\u2019s bike is decked out with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/groupsets\/groupset-road\/shimano-dura-ace-di2-r9200-review\">Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 R9200 groupset<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/dt-swiss-arc-dicut-1100-1400\">DT Swiss ARC 1400 wheelset<\/a>. The build makes it a top-spec bike at nearly half the price of the most expensive in the peloton.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-21-intermarche-wanty-s-cube-litening-aero-c-68x\">21. Alpecin-Deceuninck&#8217;s Canyon Aeroad CFR<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/07\/New-Canyon-Aeroad_1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Alpecin-Deceuninck's Canyon Aeroads\" class=\"wp-image-871083\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Alpecin-Deceuninck&#8217;s Canyon Aeroad CFR is one of the bunch&#8217;s cheaper bikes. &#8211; George Scott \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><ul><li>Canyon Aeroad CFR<\/li><li>\u00a38,849 \/ $9,699<\/li><\/ul><p>Traditionally, Canyon has been seen as a good value option (thanks largely to its direct-sales model) and its top-end <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/road-bikes\/canyon-aeroad-cfr-di2-review\">Aeroad CFR<\/a> continues to be one of the more affordable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/pro-bike\/tour-de-france-bikes\">Tour de France bikes<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>If you measure speed by sprint pedigree, this is also one of the fastest \u2013 Jasper Philipsen is looking to defend his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/tour-de-france-jersey-colours\">green jersey<\/a> from last year&#8217;s race, while Mathieu van der Poel is a prolific race winner.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-18-movistar-s-canyon-aeroad-cfr\">18. Movistar also uses the same bike, albeit with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/groupsets\/groupset-road\/sram-red-axs-review\">SRAM Red AXS <\/a>groupset and Zipp wheels (compared to Alpecin-Deceuninck&#8217;s Shimano-heavy specification).\u00a0<\/p><p>At the Crit\u00e9rium du Dauphin\u00e9, we also saw the team using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/2025-canyon-aeroad-spotted\">an updated bike <\/a>with what looks like a reprofiled front end.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-17-decathlon-ag2r-la-mondiale-s-van-rysel-rcr-pro\">17. Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale&#8217;s Van Rysel RCR Pro<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/07\/Paul-Lapeira_Van-Rysel-RCR-Pro_20240626_SvB_A6300_BR_9746-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Lapeira's Van Rysel RCR Pro for the 2024 Tour de France\" class=\"wp-image-871080\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Van Rysel RCR Pro is more expensive than we expected. &#8211; Simon von Bromley \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><ul><li>Van Rysel RCR Pro<\/li><li>\u00a39,000 \/ $10,999<\/li><\/ul><p>Our final bike under the \u00a310,000 mark is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/van-rysel-2024-range\">Van Rysel RCR Pro<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>When whispers of this bike first started being heard, we hoped the team model would come in under \u00a38,000 \u2013 although at \u00a39,000, it still ranks well.<\/p><p>This is another Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 R9200-equipped bike, and a few of the team&#8217;s riders, such as French national champion Paul Lapeira, are sporting Carbon-Ti chainrings. <\/p><p>The team also uses Swiss Side wheels, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/pedals\/look-keo-blade-ceramic-pedals-review\">Look Keo Ceramic Blade pedals<\/a>.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-16-team-dsm-firmenich-postnl-s-scott-foil-rc\">16. We\u2019ll start with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/pro-bike\/2024-tour-de-france-mark-cavendish-wilier-filante-slr\">Astana bike Mark Cavendish piloted to his record-breaking 35th stage win<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p><p>The team doesn&#8217;t list Shimano among it&#8217;s sponsors or partners, hinting that it might buy in the brand&#8217;s Dura-Ace groupset for its bikes. At the Crit\u00e9rium du Dauphin\u00e9, he paired this new bike (which was unreleased at the time) with old-school Continental Competition Pro LTD <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/tubes-tubeless-or-tubular-2\">tubular tyres<\/a>.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-11-arkea-b-amp-b-hotels-bianchi-oltre-rc\">11. No.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-8-soudal-quick-step-s-specialized-s-works-tarmac-sl8\">8. If you\u2019re in the States, the bike the team rides will cost you $16,999.<\/p><p>In dollar prices, this is more than double the cost of Uno X\u2019s Dare VSRu.<\/p><p>And consider the cost of all the bikes Lidl-Trek will take to the Tour \u2013 teams are made up of eight riders, they all have a race bike and two spares for the following team cars, plus the mechanics truck will likely house a fourth bike for each rider to cover breakages.\u00a0<\/p><p>That equates to over half a million dollars&#8217; worth of bikes for the team.
