It contains a new generator assembly that despite its compact size meets the standard performance values expected of a dynamo hub.<\/p><p>SON claims intelligent charging electronics deliver the high levels of power required from a dynamo hub.\u00a0<\/p><p>The company says the 29 S meets the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/stvzo-bike-lights\">StVZO requirements<\/a> for a 29-inch wheel dynamo hub.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-same-power-levers-as-the-son-28\">The same power levers as the SON 28<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/07\/SON-29-S-hub-2.jpg\" alt=\"SON 29 S dynamo hub.\" class=\"wp-image-871424\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The dynamo sits behind the six-bolt rotor mount. &#8211; Jack Luke \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>SON says the 29 S has similar performance figures to its 28 hub, thanks to reworking the system parameters.\u00a0<\/p><p>The new slender hub provides the same power levers, but at the (relatively) lower speeds of off-road riding.<\/p><p>The hub itself is designed around straight-pull hub flanges, which optimises the stiffness and robustness of a wheel build, according to SON.\u00a0<\/p><p>The 29 S has SON\u2019s Coaxial port on the flange of the non-disc side of the hub.\u00a0<\/p><p>The new 29 S should be available later this summer, priced at \u20ac549 (international pricing TBC).<\/p><p>With 24- and 32-spoke options and a claimed weight of 410g, we expect to see the 29 S built onto plenty of high-end custom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-gravel-bikes\">gravel bikes<\/a> and bikepacking rigs in the not-too-distant future.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-son-ladelux-light\">SON Ladelux light<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/07\/O5A0125.jpg\" alt=\"SON Ladelux dynamo headlight.\" class=\"wp-image-871784\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Ladelux headlight has a buffer battery. &#8211; Stan Portus \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>SON also had its new Ladelux headlight on display at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/events\/eurobike\">Eurobike<\/a>.
