{"id":67730,"date":"2024-08-09T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b6910b7f-a631-4715-9a7b-d266310ca8a9"},"modified":"2024-08-09T11:25:30","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T09:25:30","slug":"bike-of-the-week-olympic-champion-pauline-ferrand-prevots-pinarello-dogma-xc-hardtail-arrives-for-testing","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/bike-of-the-week-olympic-champion-pauline-ferrand-prevots-pinarello-dogma-xc-hardtail-arrives-for-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"Bike of the Week | Olympic champion Pauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot&#8217;s Pinarello Dogma XC Hardtail arrives for testing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">We take a closer look at the gold-medal winning XC bike from Paris 2024 <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Friday, 09 August 2024 at 09:00 AM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Pinarello\u2019s gold-medal winning Pinarello Dogma XC Hardtail has landed at BikeRadar HQ for further testing, with the cross-country bike featuring 100mm of travel and an asymmetric frame design.<\/p><p>The Dogma XC Hardtail has already proven itself under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/pro-bike\/2024-olympic-xc-gold-medal-bikes\">Pauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot at the Paris 2024 Olympics<\/a>, with the French rider taking the top step in the cross-country.<\/p><p>This consumer-available model differs from the one used by Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/fox-32-step-cast\">Fox 32 Factory Step-Cast<\/a> replacing the SR Suntour Axon-Werx 34 Boost EQ fork and DT Swiss wheels used instead of P1&#8217;s Singularis M30.<\/p><p>We\u2019ve already brought you a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/mountain-bikes\/full-suspension-mountain-bikes\/pinarello-dogma-xc-first-ride-review\">first-ride review<\/a> of its full-suspension sibling, but before we put the Dogma XC Hardtail through its paces on home soil, let\u2019s take a closer look. <\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-asymmetrical-accuracy\">Asymmetrical accuracy<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pinarello took both cross-country titles at the Olympics with its Dogma XC range. &#8211; Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Dogma XC is made from a high-modulus Toray M40J <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/bike-frame-materials\">carbon fibre<\/a> and features a rather quirky bottom bracket area that sees a bridge from the seat tube to the down tube.<\/p><p>This is the same on the full-suspension Dogma XC, where the area supports oversized pivot bearings.<\/p><p>Pinarello says the design aids in stiffness and efficiency.<\/p><p>Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot had a lot of input to the design of the Dogma XC Hardtail, working alongside Pinarello&#8217;s engineers and Tom Pidcock.<\/p><p>As with many of the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-cross-country-bikes\">cross-country bikes<\/a>, the Dogma XC Hardtail features integrated cable routing.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/08\/AM9A2215-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Pinarello Dogma XC Hardtail with MOST Talon Ultra XC\" class=\"wp-image-876566\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Integrated bars are becoming more common on cross-country bikes. &#8211; Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>It enters the frame via the integrated Talon Ultra XC cockpit made by in-house brand Most.<\/p><p>Pinarello says the cockpit reduces weight and increases steering accuracy compared to a two-piece alternative.<\/p><p>Internal stoppers are used in the head tube to prevent the handlebar from over-rotating more than 60 degrees, making it impossible for shifters, dropper levers or suspension lock-out remotes to cause damage to the top tube in a crash.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/08\/AM9A2220-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Pinarello Dogma XC Hardtail with asymmetrical seat stays\" class=\"wp-image-876579\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The seatstays meet the seat tube at different heights. &#8211; Scott Windsor \/ Our Media<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>An asymmetrical design is used in the rear triangle, with the left-hand side reinforced to counteract the forces applied to the frame from the drivetrain.<\/p><p>Pinarello says this results in a more balanced energy transfer and improves speed and traction.<\/p><p>This design also removes the need for bridges between the seatstays and chainstays, allowing for greater tyre clearance and enabling shorter chainstays to be used, increasing responsiveness.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/08\/AM9A2250-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Pinarello Dogma XC Hardtail with solid carbon post\" class=\"wp-image-876571\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Many riders choose to use dropper posts on cross-country bikes despite the weight penalty. &#8211;
