{"id":68816,"date":"2024-09-12T11:01:19","date_gmt":"2024-09-12T09:01:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/06677a36-0451-4441-b603-77591397d625"},"modified":"2024-09-12T12:25:26","modified_gmt":"2024-09-12T10:25:26","slug":"canyons-spectralonfly-debuts-steering-stabiliser-tech-with-a-mid-power-50nm-tq-motor","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/canyons-spectralonfly-debuts-steering-stabiliser-tech-with-a-mid-power-50nm-tq-motor\/","title":{"rendered":"Canyon&#8217;s Spectral:ONfly debuts steering stabiliser tech with a mid-power 50Nm TQ motor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">New bike features K.I.S. stability system and enduro-rated frame <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Thursday, 12 September 2024 at 09:01 AM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Canyon has announced the Spectral:ONfly, a lightweight electric mountain bike with a claimed weight of 18.1kg and 150mm of rear-suspension travel.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-lightweight-electric-mountain-bikes\">lightweight eMTB<\/a> uses TQ\u2019s HPR50 drive system with a 360Wh battery positioned in the down tube and a 200Wh, 50Nm motor in the bottom bracket area.<\/p><p>Canyon says the bike balances the poppy, nimble feeling of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-trail-bikes\">best trail bikes<\/a> with the extra boost and speed of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-electric-mountain-bikes\">electric mountain bike<\/a>.<\/p><p>At launch, the Spectral:ONfly will be available in four specifications, with prices starting at \u00a35,199 \/ \u20ac5,999 for the Spectral:ONfly CF8, while the Spectral:ONfly LTD tops the range at \u00a38,349 \/ \u20ac8,999.<\/p><p>US riders can only buy two bikes from the range, the Spectral:ONfly CF 8 for $5,999 and the Spectral:ONfly CF CLLCTV for $7,499.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tech-filled front triangle<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Spectral:ONfly is available in four frame sizes. &#8211; Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Canyon Spectral:ONfly uses a full carbon fibre frameset, which is said to be capable of enduro-level riding. It tips the scales at a claimed 2.65kg.<\/p><p>Canyon has incorporated plenty of technical features into the frame.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1667\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/09\/551437-roofowler_RZ85949-6e7cc9-original-1725172259.jpg\" alt=\"Canyon Spectral:ONFly TQ display and K.I.S.\" class=\"wp-image-880411\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The K.I.S. system can be altered using the slider on the top tube. &#8211; Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The top tube hosts Canyon\u2019s Keep It Straight (K.I.S.) steering stabilisation system, which debuted in 2022 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/news\/canyon-syntace-kis-self-centring-steering-stabilisation-system\">Spectral 29<\/a>. The system centres the handlebar and is said to increase control and confidence on loose, choppy terrain.<\/p><p>There is also a screen for the TQ system on the top tube, with the display showing stats such as range, power output and battery level.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TQ power system<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1667\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/09\/551443-roofowler_RZ86022-aa1fcf-original-1725172869.jpg\" alt=\"Canyon Spectral:ONFly TQ Motor\" class=\"wp-image-880406\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">TQ&#8217;s motor is one of the most discreet on the market. &#8211; Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Like many modern electric mountain bikes, the slender 360Wh battery and 50Nm motor are hidden in the frame. This makes the new Spectral hard to distinguish from a non-assisted mountain bike.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1667\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/09\/551436-roofowler_RZ85892-301b9f-original-1725172259.jpg\" alt=\"Canyon Spectral:ONFly TQ range extender\" class=\"wp-image-880405\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Using the TQ range extender sacrifices having a water bottle. &#8211; Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The 360Wh battery can be increased to a total of 520Wh with a 160Wh range extender, which takes the place of the bottle cage and claims to increase kilometres per charge by 44 per cent.<\/p><p>We\u2019ve tested the TQ system on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/mountain-bikes\/full-suspension-mountain-bikes\/trek-fuel-exe-9-9-xx1-axs-first-ride-review\">Trek Fuel EXe<\/a> and found it to offer natural, powerful and almost silent riding characteristics.<\/p><p>The bike rolls on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/what-is-faster-mullet-bike-29er\">mullet wheel setup<\/a> with a 29in wheel up-front and a 27.5in wheel on the rear.<\/p><p>The rear-suspension travel is delivered by Canyon\u2019s Triple Phase linkage. This is based around a four-bar design and is said to provide good mid-stroke support and a bottomless feel on big hits.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1667\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/09\/551224-roofowler_RZ99474sm-695400-original-1725029470.jpg\" alt=\"Canyon Spectral:ONFly riding shot\" class=\"wp-image-880412\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Spectral:ONfly is aimed at trail to enduro riding. &#8211; Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Up-front, there&#8217;s a 160mm suspension fork. All the bikes in the range feature a 36mm or 38mm-stanchion fork, as well as 200mm brake rotors front and rear.<\/p><p>Canyon has bucked the trend of internal-headset cable routing, choosing down-tube cable routing instead.
