{"id":69793,"date":"2024-10-08T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-08T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/e71063a8-b0ce-486d-b197-f6a13a2b9f05"},"modified":"2024-10-08T13:25:30","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T11:25:30","slug":"first-look-tailfin-unveils-innovative-new-bar-bag-to-finally-complete-its-bikepacking-range","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/cyclingplus\/rss_feed\/first-look-tailfin-unveils-innovative-new-bar-bag-to-finally-complete-its-bikepacking-range\/","title":{"rendered":"First Look | Tailfin unveils innovative new bar bag to finally complete its bikepacking range\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\">You can now run a complete Tailfin bag system\u00a0on your bike <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Oscar Huckle\n      <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Tuesday, 08 October 2024 at 11:00 AM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Tailfin has finally launched its long-teased handlebar bag system, meaning you can now run a full complement of luggage from the brand on your bike.\u00a0<\/p><p>While Tailfin might have taken its time developing a handlebar bag, the brand has really sweated the details to combat all the common problems most of its competitors face.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Unlike most bags, which attach to the handlebar via straps, the Tailfin Bar Bag System adopts a modular two-piece approach, using a separate handlebar mount and accompanying bag. <\/p><p>There\u2019s also a novel \u2018Wavelock\u2019 closure system, which enables the bag to be closed by the same amount on both sides \u2013\u00a0one of the pitfalls of a traditional roll-top closure.\u00a0<\/p><p>There are four bags to choose from \u2013 two drop-bar and two flat-bar options.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A modular system<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Tailfin has opted for a modular system. <span>Oscar Huckle \/ Our Media <\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-bike-handlebar-bags\">handlebar bags<\/a> attach to the bike\u2019s handlebars and\/or head tube via rubber straps.\u00a0However, these can be unstable and difficult to fit.\u00a0<\/p><p>Handlebar bags can also abrade the bike\u2019s head tube and are susceptible to tyre buzz, especially when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-mountain-bike-suspension-forks\">suspension fork<\/a> is involved.\u00a0<\/p><p>Tailfin\u2019s modular approach features a separate mount and bag.\u00a0<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/10\/DSC00700-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Tailfin handlebar bag system on a Niner RLT 9 RDO \" class=\"wp-image-881689\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The bag simply clips onto the X-Clamp fitting of the mount. <span>Oscar Huckle \/ Our Media <\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure><p>A CNC-machined aluminium handlebar mount attaches to the round section of either a 31.8mm or 35mm-diameter handlebar via two T25 Torx bolts. The clamp takes up 11.6mm either side of the stem, with the brand saying there should still be room for aerobars.\u00a0<\/p><p>The bag then attaches to the mount, with an adapted X-Clamp closure locking it into place on a hook at the mount\u2019s base. The X-Clamp design is also found on Tailfin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-pannier-bags\">pannier bags<\/a> and its Fork Packs.\u00a0<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/39\/2024\/10\/DSC00688-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Tailfin handlebar bag system on a Niner RLT 9 RDO \" class=\"wp-image-881683\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The X-Clamp closure is used on many other Tailfin products. <span>Oscar Huckle \/ Our Media <\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Tailfin claims the clamp design enables the rider to place the bag as close to the frame and as low as possible to maintain optimal handling.\u00a0<\/p><p>Tailfin is also offering optional accessories, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-bike-computers\">bike computer<\/a> mount, a 22.2mm Universal Mount to attach a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-bike-lights-for-road-cycling\">front bike light<\/a> and a GoPro-style attachment.
