Alan Titchmarsh has teamed up with composer Debbie Wiseman on a new album which retells the story of Jack Frost and will be played at Christmas light trails across the country

Christmas light trails are already an important mark in the Christmas event calendar, with 1000s of people attending light trails in gardens and parklands every year.

To add to the excitement, this year the Royal Horticultural Society has announced a new collaboration with gardening broadcast and writer Alan Titchmarsh and composer Debbie Wiseman which will be appearing at their festive illuminations – RHS Glow.

The musical collaboration is a new album, featuring music by Debbie Wiseman and written and narrated by Alan Titchmarsh. Jack Frost – a Winter Story retells the story of Jack Frost, the figure from folklore who is responsible for winter.

The album is released on 22 November, and features soprano Grace Davidson, two brand new carols by Debbie Wiseman as well as special guests in the form of Cerys Matthews and her son, Red Abbott Matthews.

Jack Frost will be played throughout the RHS Glow illuminations at RHS Garden Bridgewater, RHS Garden Harlow Carr, RHS Garden Hyde Hall, RHS Garden Rosemoor and RHS Garden Wisley.

Alan Titchmarsh said: “I’m incredibly excited to bring highlights of our brand-new album of music and narration to the beautiful RHS Gardens across the UK. Visiting RHS Glow to experience ‘Jack Frost – a Winter Story’ is a unique, festive and fun way to spend time with your loved ones this winter.”

Debbie Wiseman, said: “This has been such a joyful collaboration melding the serenity of the Jack Frost music with the charm and wonder of Alan’s inspiring story and lyrics. We’re so excited that it can be experienced within the evocative and beautiful settings of the RHS Gardens.”

RHS Glow takes place in RHS gardens from 15 November 2024 to 5 January 2025 and is one of many Christmas light trails up and down the country in gardens and parklands. Head here for our list of the best.
