Chelsea is also often used as the perfect moment to launch brand new gardening products and this year is no different. We round up a handful of them.
An outdoor toilet
Yes folks, you read that right. It turns out that one of the big trends in gardening today is having an outdoor privy. And to be honest, who wouldn’t love the idea when faced with this brand new privy from Plankbridge.
The 4ft x 4ft Garden Privy harks back to the world of the Victorian gardener. It’s high, on wheels – for easy positioning either near a glamping spot or swimming pond – and can be either plumbed in or fitted with a compost toilet.
But if you are looking for something a bit more luxurious, the outdoor privy is not the only thing that Plankbridge is featuring at Chelsea: their Sauna Snug is well worth a look at too.

David Harber’s anniversary sculpture
British sculptor David Harber’s pieces have oft been seen on the pages of Gardens Illustrated and his artworks are regularly showcased at the Chelsea Flower Show. This year his stand is dedicated to the 30 years since the artist’s set up his company, and is featuring a showcase of signature sculptures, sundials and water features. The centrepiece is Armillary 30, a new limited edition of the famous Armillary Sphere which started everything for David, specially designed for the brand’s anniversary.

Hartley Botanic’s new Glasshouse colours
Hartley Botanic’s Chelsea stand is always worth heading to, but this year it has created a very special display. The largest structure ever shown at Chelsea is being featured in the form of the Victorian Manor glasshouse, which sits alongside the Opus Glasshouse, a Wisley 8 Grow and Store and Patio Glasshouse. While these are all not new, the brand is launching two new colours – Matt Black for the Victorian Manor glasshouse and Matt Forest Green for the Patio Glasshouse.
All Hartley’s glasshouses are handmade to order. Head to their website for more info

Hartley Botanic’s Water Butt
Not content with the largest structure at the Chelsea Flower Show, or a range of new colours, Hartley Botanic are also launching their new water butts, which you can see for the first time on the tradestand. Handmade in aluminium, they are available in two sizes, with the large having a capacity of 167 litres. They are right on trend: a lot of this year’s Chelsea Flower Show gardens are thinking about how to save water.
