Gardens Illustrated picked up two awards alongside winners including Richard Bloom, Ade Sellars, Val Bourne and Monty Don
This year’s Garden Media Guild Awards have been announced, with Gardens Illustrated winning in two categories.
Beating off stiff competition from the likes of The Garden, The Plant Review, BBC Gardener’s World Magazine and Which? Gardening, Gardens Illustrated picked up publication of the year at the awards ceremony in London.

Alongside publication of the year, Gardens Illustrated was also recognised for its new podcast Talking Gardens, which launched this year, with its second series currently being released each week.
Talking Gardens sees Gardens Illustrated editor Stephanie Mahon interviewing key figures in the horticultural world about what their dream garden might be. It has featured designers and garden enthusiasts such as Piet Oudolf, Arthur Parkinson, Charlotte Harris, Tom Massey, Nigel Slater, Marian Boswall and Errol Rueben Fernandes.
The annual Garden Media Guild awards celebrate the best in garden media communications, including writing, photography, videography, broadcasting, vlogging and social media. The awards are open to everyone in the garden media, not just GMG members. The ceremony took place at the Savoy Hotel in London.
Elsewhere on the winners list was Gardens Illustrated photographer Richard Bloom, winning features photographer of the year, for photographs including those he took for a recent feature on Great Dixter in the magazine.
Gordon Rae photographer of the year was taken home by Bennett Smith, while The Roy Lancaster Broadcast of the Year was won by Monty Don’s Adriatic Gardens – Episode 1.
The Alan Titchmarsh New Talent of the Year went to Bob Askew, while Rekha Mistry took home individual social media influencer of the year.
The final award of the night was given for outstanding contribution to Barbara Segall.
