One of the world’s most famous restaurants is hiring… but not for a chef. Discover the dreamiest job in horticulture right now

The latest dream garden job to catch our eyes is a position at the three-Michelin star restaurant Noma in Copenhagen. No, it’s not a sous-chef for the world renowned chef René Redzepi, who has a focus on foraging and re-interpretation of Nordic cuisine. It’s actually as head gardener in their absolutely beautiful garden.

The head gardener role is described as ‘crucial’ on the site’s website, with the gardener helping to create dishes and decorations. There are edible and ornamental plants in the garden and greenhouses and Noma is looking for someone with diverse experience in gardening as well as someone who can can work with several different groups of employees – such as test kitchen, chefs, waiters, farmers and suppliers.

The garden itself has been planted by legendary plantsperson Piet Oudolf, and Piet visits the garden each year to talk to the team about changes or progressions. In Piet Oudolf at Work, authors James Corner and Noel Kingsbury explain how Piet talks regularly to the head gardener at Noma.

The restaurant won first place on the World’s Best Restaurant List in 2021, and it is a favourite among foodies across the world. However there are reports that in 2025 Noma will become a test kitchen, with intentions to develop the restaurants experimental dishes. There will be pop ups throughout the world, including a pop up in London.
