I feel so lucky to have this additional space. Yet I cannot stop myself sowing more and more seeds. Perhaps that is what people mean when they talk about spring fever.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-march-gardening-jobs\">March gardening jobs<\/h2><p><strong>Sow seeds under glass<\/strong><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sowing seeds \u00a9 Nigel Kirby\/Loop Images\/Universal Images Group \/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure><p><strong>As I start to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardensillustrated.com\/plants\/our-favourite-seed-suppliers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sow seeds<\/a> under glass,<\/strong> I keep detailed notes of what I\u2019ve done and when, and try to remember to write the year on the front of the seed packets, so I can see at a glance when I bought them and how long they have been open.<\/p><p>Read our expert guide to <a href=\"\/garden-advice\/how-to\/planting-seeds-sowing-seeds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">planting seeds<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>Tidy!<\/strong><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/02\/GettyImages-499479189-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-167590\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u00a9 Josef F. Stuefer \/Getty<\/figcaption><\/figure><p><strong>March is the last chance for tidying<\/strong> before the growing season starts. Go through your pots and remove any sad-looking foliage, and chuck out plants that haven\u2019t made it through the winter. Top dress those that remain with a sprinkle of food, such as organic chicken manure pellets, and a layer of fresh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardensillustrated.com\/feature\/best-compost-potting-garden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">compost<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong>Check your rhubarb<\/strong><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1696\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/02\/GettyImages-475734716-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-167589\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Rhubarb with forcing pots \u00a9 Getty<\/figcaption><\/figure><p><strong>If you are <a href=\"\/garden-equipment\/tools\/best-rhubarb-forcers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">forcing rhubarb<\/a>,<\/strong> remember to keep it well watered. Sitting under cover, it\u2019s easy to forget about, but regular watering will stimulate growth and keep the stems tender, just as they should be. Be mindful of other plants too, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardensillustrated.com\/garden-advice\/how-to\/grow-vegetables-pots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">particularly those in pots<\/a>.
