It&#8217;s proving itself a thoroughly reliable performer for our UK climate and its height and elegant nature works very effectively with eupatorium, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardensillustrated.com\/plants\/persicaria-how-to-grow\">persicaria<\/a>, panicum and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardensillustrated.com\/plants\/the-best-agapanthus\">agapanthus<\/a>. It works nicely as a drift or group in borders but is equally effective when used as a single plant or in larger containers.&#8221;<\/p> <p>Like all miscanthus, Red Spear performs best in a full sun position in a range of soils which are not too winter wet.
