The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair returns to Battersea Park on the 4th October for its autumn edition. Over 140 exhibitors will be showcasing antique and vintage pieces, as well as stylish seasonal stock, to help buyers get their homes ready for the autumn/winter season.
Among many standout items is this eye-catching oil painting, Paysage du Midi, by Armand Guillaumin. A friend of celebrated artists Paul Cézanne and Camille Pissarro, Guillaumin influenced their work significantly. The three artists painted together and Guillaumin’s Paris studio was next door to Cezanne’s in the 1870s. This artwork comes to market from a private collection and is sure to catch the eye of keen collectors. Available from Anthony Hepworth Fine Art with a price tag of £65,000.
Fans of painted furniture will be excited by this late 18th-century Swedish ‘bonnet top’ cupboard – the star of Wakelin & Linfield’s stand. It features much of its original floral detailing and the date ANO 1782, thought to commemorate a wedding or other significant celebration. Such an item would have been a staple in kitchens, used to store food, cutlery and tableware. Available from Wakelin & Linfield with an asking price of £5,750.
For buyers with an interest in Asian antiques, a set of four chinoiserie panels will certainly appeal. The embroidered silk panels feature images of birds, insects and plants and were made in China c1890. Available from L and V Art & Design for £4,350.
