14th June 2023 at Olympia Auctions <\/strong><\/p>

Olympia Auctions\u2019 inaugural Fine Paintings and Works on Paper auction, run by newly appointed art specialist Adrian Biddell, will be a carefully selected cross-category sale ranging from Old Masters to post-war and contemporary paintings and drawings. Featuring some 100 lots, pre-sale estimates start from \u00a31,000 and the auction is one of two Fine sales to be held this year, with the next one scheduled for December, punctuated by the saleroom\u2019s first dedicated Artists\u2019 Studio Sale on 11th October.<\/p>

Says Adrian: \u2018It\u2019s an exciting time at Olympia Auctions, we are seeing an increase in consignments and interest from buyers as illustrated in our March sale which achieved a very reputable 80 per cent sell through rate. With our picture sales doubling in number this year we are building on the current market momentum for buying original art by well-regarded artists.\u2019<\/p>

One of the highlights is a finely observed pair of still lifes, painted on panel by the Flemish flower artist Georges Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Ziesel (1756\u20131809) that are estimated at \u00a36,000\u2013\u00a38,000. There\u2019s also a beautiful 20th-century still life up for grabs \u2013 entitled Pussywillow, it\u2019s by the celebrated British First World War artist CRW (Christopher Richard Wynne) Nevinson (1889\u2013 1946) and is expected to fetch at least \u00a33,000\u2013\u00a35,000 on the day, but probably more. olympiaauctions.com<\/a><\/p>
