Industry Nine have a reputation for producing high-quality wheels with fashionably noisy freehubs, and now they’re offering custom colours, too. At 1,860g for a 29in set (650b and 26in also available), these EN305s are light enough for all-day loops but should be tough enough for shredding the bike park, as they’re e-bike certified. These third-generation wheels have a shallower rim profile for improved compliance, to increase traction and reduce trail chatter. The bead wall is also 45 per cent wider, to minimise pinch flats and dents. With a 30.5mm inner width, the rim is rated for up to 2.6in tyres.

The wheels use i9’s six-pawl Hydra freehub with a staggering 690 points of engagement – that’s a click every 0.52 degrees! Our set is built up with a SRAM XD driver body and 32 large straight-pull aluminium spokes. Boost and Non-Boost hubs are available, with a Super Boost option for the rear, too. You can also upgrade to low-friction ceramic bearings, for a whopping £480.

Now for the fun stuff – you can use the configurator on i9’s website to pimp your hoops, choosing from 11 anodised colours. Level one (£1,425) gets you eight accent spokes of a single colour, while level three (£1,610) allows unlimited spoke and hub customisation. https://lyon.co.uk
