Austrian wunderkind Valentina H\u00f6ll has a new team, a new bike and her sights set on continued downhill domination in 2024. The world and World Cup champion began her pro career aged just 13, winning two Junior World Championships and a World Cup overall with YT Industries. After a four year hiatus, she\u2019s now back with the German brand \u2013 a move that\u2019s already paid off, with victory at this year\u2019s opening round in Fort William.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cComing back to a full factory set-up was something I needed, to grow,\u201d says Vali, 22. \u201cI was open for something new, I had options, but with YT I felt like I was home.\u201d Over the past decade, the brand have expanded from their gravity roots into trail, down country and e-bikes. So, Vali is working with plenty of new faces \u2013 including her YT MOB teammates Oisin O\u2019Callaghan and Sian A\u2019hern, whom she got to know during off-season training in Australia and NZ.<\/p>\n\n

She\u2019s got a new bike to get to grips with, too \u2013 the Mk4 YT Tues. This can be run as a full 29er or with a smaller 650b rear wheel. \u201cI\u2019m stoked to have a \u2018mullet\u2019 version,\u201d she says. \u201cAfter riding one for three years, there\u2019s no way for me to go back on a full 29. The Tues is as playful as I remembered, but still, once you attack, it\u2019s planted and stable. The bike, as well as the team, feels like home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Vali has one eye on the women\u2019s freeride scene, saying: \u201cWith where DH is heading with [World Cup organisers] ESO, I\u2019m stoked to see Red Bull hosting such sick events as Hardline and Rampage.\u201d But downhill remains her focus. \u201cIt was amazing to start the season with a win, on a track that\u2019s always been a challenge for me,\u201d she enthuses. We\u2019re sure there\u2019ll be more to come, as Vali is clearly well-suited to her new team and bike, and shows no signs of slowing down. \u201cI\u2019ve nothing to lose,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019ve already achieved everything I ever dreamt of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
