Black Friday gin deals at a glance

When you’re on the look out for gin deals, remember that pricing around sales events like Black Friday can be quite volatile with retailers lowering their prices to stay in line with competitors. This means it’s always worth shopping around before you settle on a deal.

Black Friday gin deals

Star of Bombay gin

Star of Bombay Gin

Featuring bergamot orange peel from Calabria in southern Italy and ambrette seed from Ecuador on top of the 10 botanicals that feature in flagship product Bombay Sapphire, the classic notes of juniper, angelica and coriander have been intensified in this gin, alongside aromas of dried flowers and an underlying spice.

Caorunn gin

Caorunn Gin, Scotland

This Scottish gin is crisp, dry and well-balanced yet still full-bodied. The distillery is situated in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and is inspired by the surrounding landscape – using age-old Celtic ingredients that grow on the hills around Balmenach Distillery. The botanicals jump out on the palate with spices, citrus and floral notes.

Rock Rose gin

Rock Rose Gin Scottish Gin

This is a bright gin packed with fruity berries and a delicate astringency. Rock Rose is distilled at the northern tip of Scotland and harnesses its regionality in its gin through using local Scottish botanicals.

Ophir Oriental Spiced Gin

Glass bottle of Ophir gin

This gin is a great winter warmer, perfect for a Christmas gift or just a tipple as the nights draw in. It’s a well-balanced gin with exotic, spicy botanicals that make it warming and easy to drink. Try it paired with tonic water and a slice of fresh ginger.

Sipsmith London Dry Gin

Sipsmith London Dry Gin Bottle

In 2009 the first new licence to distill in London since 1820 was granted to Sipsmith Independent Spirits and since then a wave of new gin distilleries have followed. This is its original recipe – a bold, complex and aromatic gin with a floral nose followed by dry juniper and citrus on the palate.

Boatyard Double Gin

Boatyard Double Gin

This smooth, juniper-led gin lives up to its classy label. It has a hint of floral sweetness thanks to the wild sweet gale that’s foraged from Boatyard’s farm in Fermanagh. Its botanicals include grains of paradise and angelica, making it well suited to a gin and tonic with a twist of orange peel or juniper berries.

Brecon Botanicals Gin

Brecon Beacons Gin

Best Welsh gin for a G&T

Distilled with water from the Brecon Beacons National Park, this gin has notes of wildflowers with fresh citrus, balanced with warming spices, including cinnamon and cloves. It’s got plenty of body so would stand up well in a classic gin and tonic with a robust garnish like a wedge of orange.

Hensol Castle Blood Orange Zest Gin

Hensol Castle blood orange gin

Best Welsh flavoured gin

The perfect foundation to a spritz with a wedge of blood orange, this is a nicely balanced flavoured gin, bursting with sunny citrus notes, as well as juniper from the underlying base spirit. Blood orange is well and truly the star of the show.

The Botanist Islay Dry Gin

The Botanist Gin

The Botanist London Dry gin is all about hand-foraged local botanicals including angelica root, apple mint and bog myrtle leaves, resulting in a bottle that uniquely expresses the Scottish island. We’d recommend pairing it with tonic water garnished with either a sprig of rosemary of a wedge of grapefruit.

Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale

Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale

Best blackcurrant gin

As the nights draw in the warmer months might seem like a distant memory, but this gin is a great one to have in the cupboard when the days start to lengthen or if you just want a taste of summer. Floral, mellow and brimming with French blackcurrants, this offering from Tanqueray is smooth and elegant and remains on the subtle side of sweet.

Sipsmith Orange and Cacao Gin

A bottle of Sipsmith zesty orange gin

Best for chocoholics

A classic festive pairing, this orange and cacao gin has clean, bold juniper aromas, sweet, marmalade-like citrus and well-balanced cocoa notes on the palate. It’s smooth and sweet enough to drink on its own, over ice.

Hayman’s Sloe Gin

Haymans Sloe Gin Bottle

Best sloe gin

It might only be November, but Christmas is just around the corner. This number is great for the festive season, made by steeping hand-picked sloe berries in Hayman’s London Dry Gin for up to four months. With a nice balance of sloe berries and a gentle hit of alcohol, it has a rich, fruity flavour without being too sweet. Try it topped with sparkling wine for a kir-royale inspired cocktail.

Chase Pink Grapefruit and Pomelo Gin

A pretty pink bottle with dark pink floral design on the front

Best pink grapefruit gin

This is a super-fragrant spirit, full of zesty tartness and well-balanced bitter notes. Created by distilling Chase gin with grapefruit and pomelo peel, it pairs well with tonic water and a wedge of pink grapefruit.

Whitley Neill blood orange gin

Whitley Neill Blood Orange Gin

Best blood orange gin

This fragrant number from Whitley Neill packs in lots of juicy citrus, with dryness from Sicilian blood oranges that pairs well with the gin, and subtle notes of orange peel and pepper. If you’re after something different try this with fresh grapefruit juice and lime for a zesty paloma.

Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla

Tanquery Flor de Sevilla Bottle

Best Spanish flavoured gin

Tonic water and a wedge of orange perfectly accompany this gin, with subtle notes of orange blossom. The bittersweet zestiness of Seville oranges adds a taste of the Med to the botanicals, making this a very drinkable spirit.

Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin

Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin

Best for wine buffs

This distillery takes shiraz grapes local to the Yarra Valley in Australia where it’s based, and steeps them in gin before pressing to release all of the juices. We like it paired with lemon tonic water to balance the flavours of rich berry fruits and elegantly subtle spice, herb and juniper notes.

Eden Mill Hop Gin

Eden Mill Hop Gin

Best for beer fans

This unusual gin is a quirky hybrid of gin and beer flavours. Based in St Andrews, the distillery uses Australian galaxy hops as a botanical in this spirit, which has a strong, rich flavour that pairs well with tonic water and fresh red chilli.

Stranger & Sons gin

Stranger and Sons Gin

Best Indian Gin

Stranger & Sons is the debut gin from the Goan Third Eye Distillery and uses spices foraged or cultivated along the Goan and Keralan coasts. This has a lovely, warming spice character, with pepper, nutmeg and liquorice notes. An ideal gin for winter, enjoy in a gibson martini with dry vermouth and an onion garnish.

Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin

Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin

Best Australian Gin

Paired perfectly with tonic water and a wedge of orange, this gin is made in the Australia’s Yarra Valley and combines native botanicals (Tasmanian pepperberry and lemon myrtle) with spices and whole oranges. Expect juniper and other traditional gin flavourings, but the regional twists add depth and interest.

How to get a good gin deal

Black Friday is one of the biggest sales periods of the year, and while this might have once applied mostly to tech deals, it’s now extended to pretty much everything including food and drink.

With so many gins on the market, from old familiar names all the way to new micro distilleries, it’s a good idea to do your research on which gin you want before searching for deals.

Many large retailers will have savings available, as well as supermarkets, many of which have special prices available for loyalty card holders. If you’re planning on entertaining it might be worth looking at gin bundles as these are often a good place to find a deal.

How do we select gin deals?

Our expert reviews team have years of experience working the biggest annual sales events to find the best deals. Throughout the year, we test and review dozens of products across different categories, and look to find deals on food, drinks and appliances we found impressive during testing.

There are a number of different things we look out for when selecting deals, like how much money the deal is saving and how much this is as a percentage of the original price — the best deals tend to be from 20 per cent off and upwards.

Another important factor is the retailer where the deal is being listed. We advise that you only buy from retailers which you recognise and trust. Remember, if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. This Black Friday we’re also seeing many supermarket with food and drink deals that are available only in-store and not online, so if you’ve got your eye on a specific bottle it’s worth having a look while you’re doing your weekly shop.
