Black Friday takes place this week on Friday 24 November and many retailers have already put their sales live. Whether you’re planning a last-minute escape or a big trip for next summer, there are sales to be found on flight, hotels and complete holiday packages.

Pricing around sales events like Black Friday can be quite volatile, so we’d recommend buying as soon as the holiday or flight you’d like reaches a price you’re comfortable with. That being said, flights and holidays don’t go out of stock in the same way as many other items on sale at the moment, so there’s a chance that if you wait prices may fall further. Just remember that this Friday 24 November is when the majority of deals will be live, so don’t wait too long.

How to get a good deal when booking travel, holidays or flights

There are a number of factors to consider before making a purchase on whether a deal is the right one for you.

If booking flights make sure to pay close attention to which airports are listed. If you’re flexible on your departure airport you’re more likely to find a good deal. Another important element of booking flights is the timings.

Deals are likely to be better on flights at anti-social times, plus there’s the added factor of travelling to the airport and allowing time for security checks. If you don’t mind rising early or arriving at your destination late in the evening, you’ll be able to take advantage of a greater number of deals.

There are usually hidden costs when it comes to travel, and these are also important to factor in when you’re looking at a deal. These can include extra costs on flights for luggage and seating, any additional travel and visas for international travel.
