Make way for the Samba Boys! Is it even a World Cup without Brazil? Qatar is prepared for an injection of yellow and green as Tite’s South American superstars begin their campaign.

Brazil were many people’s favourites to go all the way in the desert prior to the tournament, though shock wins for Saudi Arabia and Japan over Argentina and Germany should put them on high alert against any upsets.

Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo re-enters the limelight with Portugal and will be keen to turn attention back to the football following his departure from Manchester United in midweek.

Argentina entered the tournaments among the favourites this year alongside Brazil and France, but Saudi Arabia’s stunning victory over Lionel Messi’s men proved that nothing is certain in the competition. Anything can happen. Who will triumph in Qatar?

One of the best all-round days of action is upon us, with four colourful clashes to sink our teeth into. The pick of the bunch – and potentially of the entire round – could be Brazil v Serbia as Neymar’s crew ride into battle against tricky European opposition. Portugal v Ghana also boasts plenty of potential, while tournament dark horses Uruguay will be scrutinised by many.
