The third and final film in The Kissing Booth franchise arrives on Netflix tomorrow, with the sequel following Elle, Lee and Noah as they make the most of their last summer before college.

However, Elle – who’s played by The Act’s Joey King – has a big decision to make: will she attend Berkeley with her best friend Lee (Joel Courtney) or follow Noah (Jacob Elordi) to Harvard?

The teen romcom’s first film made its Netflix debut in 2018 and became an instant hit, with the cast and crew returning two years later to make a much-anticipated sequel.

Based on Beth Reekles book of the same name, The Kissing Booth 3 will see Mrs Flynn (Molly Ringwald), Marco Peña (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and Chloe Winthrop (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) drop by once again to help Elle make the important decision she’s agonising over whilst helping Lee complete their beach bucket list.

The Kissing Booth 2 and The Kissing Booth 3 were filmed back to back, with director Vince Marcello describing the transition between the two as “seamless”.

“I kept saying to everyone, ‘Don’t think of it as two movies. Just think of it as one big movies,’” he said. “People will click from two to three and it’ll look like it just picked up the next day, which is what we wanted.”

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming film.

Will there be a Kissing Booth 3?

Yes! Joey King, who stars as Elle in the franchise, previously confirmed during a livestream fan event that the cast would be back for The Kissing Booth 3. And now it’s set for release on Netflix.

The Kissing Booth 3 release date: What time will it land on Netflix?

The final movie in The Kissing Booth series will be released on Netflix tomorrow, 11th August at 8:01am BST.

The date was officially announced in a rather unusual fashion: during a Netflix sizzle reel.

Lee actor Joel Courtney said “I got so excited, I ate 11 churros”, with co-star Joey King adding “Ate 11, hmm?” with a knowing look to the camera.

This was of course wordplay based on how “ate 11” sounds like “8/11” which – in a UK date format – confirmed a release date of 11th August 2021.

Netflix had previously revealed that The Kissing Booth 3 would be out this year, with franchise star Joey King announcing back in November that the release date could be sooner than we initially thought.

Speaking at the People’s Choice Awards after winning Comedy Movie Star of 2020, King said that the film would be arriving on Netflix in summer 2021.

According to Deadline, the franchise’s third instalment was in post-production in July, having been quietly shot alongside The Kissing Booth 2 in South Africa.

What will happen in The Kissing Booth 3?

**WARNING – SPOILERS FOR THE KISSING BOOTH 2**

According to Netflix, The Kissing Booth 3 will take place during the summer before Elle heads to college and will pick up from where the second film left off.

“She has a secret: She got into both Harvard, where her dreamy boyfriend Noah goes, and Berkeley, where her BFF Lee is going,” Netflix teases. “Which path will Elle choose?”

Netflix also released a sneak peek of the third film, which shows Elle, Noah, Lee and Rachel celebrating post-graduation whilst on holiday, with Elle dodging calls from the Harvard admissions office.

Elle will be struggling to balance her time between the two Flynn brothers, as completing a childhood bucket list with Lee clashes with dates with boyfriend Noah.

It looks as though the third film will focus mainly on the major cliffhanger fans were left with at the end of The Kissing Booth 2, however there are some other potential storylines we could see explored in The Kissing Booth 3.

At the end of The Kissing Booth 2, we saw Elle choose her boyfriend Noah over new student Marco, who she had grown close to and kissed. While Marco’s friend told him that Elle wasn’t worth it, Marco replied by telling him that she was. The third film’s trailer confirmed that Elle will bump into Marco during her summer job – later sporting a bruise teasing that Marco will put up a literal fight for her.

We also saw Lee and his girlfriend Rachel (Meganne Young) face relationship troubles throughout The Kissing Booth 2 and while they reconciled towards the end of the film, are we likely to see them back on the rocks in the next film, especially since Elle seemed to be the major problem for Rachel?

We can see from the sneak peek that Joey King and Jacob Elordi are returning to play Elle and Noah respectively, alongside Joel Courtney as Lee and Meganne Young as Rachel.

We’ll also see the return of Taylor Zakhar Perez (Marco), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Chloe), Meganne Young (Rachel) and Molly Ringwald (Mrs. Flynn).

The Kissing Booth 3 trailer

A year on from the release of the first sneak peek, we finally got a full-length trailer in July 2021. The trailer teased plenty of light-hearted summer laughs – and showed that Elle has to choose between the Flynn brothers yet again…
